Playing my recent Mushroom-obsessed Druid, i came to think of this, perhaps the initial spark was a selfish ic one, but i think it might actually be good fun for everyone if this is worked out-which ofcourse i offer to assist with, if needed-I whole heartedly admit i am clueless to the technical implications of this suggestion, but i think it could be so fun IF it can be done.

Would it not be a great thing, and addition to the gardening aspect of the server if there are a few MUSHROOMS with propperties, which can be planted and harvested?

For example, the real Vikings, in their time, would infact chew on the Red Hat mushrooms, in battle, which infact had the effect of beserking for a while { with to me unknown side effects, addmitted} But for poison, sleep-troubles, dreamz, MushroomSpirits, single beserk use-etc it could be fun?!?

Ofcourse one would have to make the gardening rolls etc..

I just want to know what everyone thinks, technically and IC additionally about such an idea.

If it comes to it, that they would be implimented, i would LOVE to give and IC/OOC addition and imput.

I heard somewhere that they used them as a suppository.
Kudos to the guy that discovered that!

Hmph Bosch..that is BESIDES the point, i asked your OPINION on inserting mushrooms as usable units in the GAME, not about what you think of transporting drugs!

Anonymous Bosch

It wasn't a transportation issue, it was a delightful method of getting the druggy goodness.

I don't think there's a pressing need for them, but magic mushrooms would definitely be a nice addition to the herb life if a DM has free time to implement them.

He gave it. [snigger]

Being something resembling serious though, the point of alchemy and herbalism is you need the skills or classes to be good at it. This would IMO just result in a lot of players wiping the plants out really fast for free consumables. More Herbalism recipes for stuff like say a single use Blood Frenzy item from multiple mushrooms, might work.

MoonlitNight

LOL Egon! Thats Forgery! I said OTHER things in that sentense!!

SN

I wholeheartedly sign under this idea.
And not neccessarily just MUSHROOMS. Lots of plants! Different plants! With different effects!

And hells, why don't we have 'normal' plants pickable, like garlic, thyme, basil, thyme, wtfever and hells, EVEN  PO-TA-TOES. ?

ANother suggestion (Aside from yet another suggestion to move the threat to the suggestion part of the forums) is to add some sort of a way for Druids/Rangers to acquire certain -usable- pieces from the animals, all based on the herbalism check, f.e.:

- distilling poison from dead snakes.
- cutting out bits from animals other than guts/sinews, which could be used as single use consumables (for instance with minor healing)

Egon the Monkey

We do actually.
Read some of the plant descriptions, and some definitely appear to be cooking reagents (Phoenix Pine cones are described as "spicy"), Foxberries are described as meaty, sweet grass as a sugary plant. I just wish I could figure out the recipes.

SN

Yeah. But we don't have PO-TA-TOES?

The Crimson Magician

We're not a bunch of Irish fools tbh.

Drakill Tannan

I would instead have the actual components grabbed for herbalism have some such effects already, identifiable only through the herbalism skill. And of cource, add mushrooms with stronger propieties, again, identifiable only by herbalists.

Thomas_Not_very_wise

There is a hidden cache of mushrooms hidden in the server.

It's called the Underdark.

Yeh, thanks Thom. I would never figure it out !

johanmaxon

The Vikings didn't eat it you foo! It does not work! You have the old facts!

derfo

i think there should be mushrooms that induce confusion upon eating them
