[hide=Background]Jhulae Duskryn was the second daughter of her House who was forced to run for her life when it was overrun by one of their rivals. She decided to spite the conquering House Hune by living under their noses, in the sewers beneath Traensyr, but her desires for vengeance made her sloppy, and she fell into the hands of Ghaunadauran rebels. As a priestess of Lolth, she presented an irresistible sacrifice to Ghaunadaur, and it was decided that she was to be tortured until she begged for death- because a willing sacrifice would win them more favor in the eyes of the Ancient One. She was beaten, bruised and burned, with every tattoo and sigil of Lolth scorched off of her body, but when Jhulae finally succumbed to the pressure, one of the priests of Ghaunadaur was granted a vision- that Jhulae would do much to further the name of Ghaunadaur, but only if she swore to serve Him willingly then and there. She was told that the time of Lolth the Spider Queen was over, and Traensyr was doomed. Wracked with pain and with nothing left to live for, Jhulae turned from Lolth, expecting to be struck down on the spot for her transgressions, devoured alive in her sleep by Her brood...but the world kept turning. In time, she gave herself over fully to the Lurking God.

As the time for the Great Ritual neared, she was ordered to leave Traensyr and seek out the gnomish ruins known to some as Sanctuary, where the waters glow green with pollution. Deep within this place, Jhulae would find one of Ghaunadaur's favored beings, still in relative infancy. The lurking ooze of Dunwarren could only be marshaled and harnessed by one who knew His embrace intimately, as well as the price for failure. In these ruins she would find all that she needed to fulfill her task, for this is what she had been spared for. It was not until she had departed Traensyr that she learned that the visions of the priest had come true. The city was lost and Lolth was silent.

Emboldened with the certainty that her destiny was before her, Jhulae left Traensyr behind. When she returns, it will be as a conqueror, her divine mission fulfilled.[/hide]

Jhulae Duskryn is my second Drow, and perhaps the only way I can play elves in efu. Elves who hate elves. She was also a cleric, which I think is becoming my favorite class not for all the mechanical bullshit you can do with them but because I enjoyed tweaking and re-working the rhetoric involved. Every interaction I had with other characters talking about faith inspired me in some degree to twist what I had been given just a bit more, and I'm really thankful for those I got play with. Jhulae preached over putting the needs of the whole over the needs of the individual, so perhaps it's fitting that it was her individual ambitions that got her killed in the end. Her need to avenge the death of a brother in faith and give the Ooze what it was due led to her picking a fight under unfavorable circumstances- which any of her deceased family would have scoffed at.

Here's some shots, in no particular order.

Ten minutes after creation, in which I neglected to purchase a weapon, we encounter an elf right off the bat.

Credit is due to the Amorphite, who kind of paved the way for how someone does a cleric of Ghaunadaur right.

Designs upon the Moldmire, swampy marshland which has known many an intruder, soon brought us out of the pipes.

We soon found we had enemies everywhere we went.

My interactions with Di soon led me to the idea of 'uniting' the elven People. Because we all dark elves in the dark baby.

Clerics of rival faiths were always fun to bounce off of.

We made some allies, too.

I, for one, am really invested in the saga of Gorbengolt. Maybe I will be lucky enough to learn the TRUTH.

Until the next one, efu.

Damnit, my plans! Oh well, I only ran into Jhulae a few times, though the one true interaction with her (not shown above) was pretty dang interesting, in my own opinion. You took the bait. Good job, looking forward to your next one, Blue!
Forever in the Shadows, yearning for the Light.

efuincarnate

Damn Blue! Not nearly enough time..not nearly enough!

Apocryphal Misconceptions

Bravo. You have all the hundred eighty three balls of steel. Jhulae's actions will hopefully inspire everyone to be a little more bold.

NothingGoldCanStay

This was an amazing PC. I can't wait to play with you again, blue.

sharkinajar

A shame we didn't butt heads more! I was looking forward to it.

Haer Dalis 83

I had so many plans! But she was an amazing one. Yesterday's scene with her and Dorissa is one I will remember for a while.

Random_White_Guy

PCs done well are fun for EFU.

Monsterous PCs done well are great for EFU.

Clerics done well for EFU are stellar.

You brought a lot of ruckus and presence as any evil cleric should, drow or otherwise and that alone is a kickass feat! Well done!

Good times. Awesome cleric!

Angband

We need more PCs like this, a pleasure to play with.

putrid_plum

always heard crazy things about the PC but never got to meet her (only the others) but hopefully dat ooze will endure!

Pandip

Insanely cool cleric. I wish I had more motivation to log on so that I could see more of her story -- there was lots of cool stuff going on with the 'ooze freaks'.

A Mystery Clock

I really liked Jhulae. She and the rest of the ooze cult were insanely hard to stalk, but what impressed me the most is that it was extremely hard for me to label her as a villain. The cult really seemed to mean well, despite being monstrous monsters of monstery monstrousness.

A screenshot, from the very beginning. Yes, that's an hostile ooze.
