Knight Of Pentacles

Change it to Enchantment and give it a duration of 7 rounds per level.  Small boost for the vastly underpowered enchantment school and a spell that could use a bit of flair.

One_With_Nature

7 Rounds per level for a level 2 spell that would entirely cripple a spellcaster if failed save is far to unbalanced.

Apocryphal Misconceptions

It is a great spell already though hard to utilise.

A good tip is to cast it on yourself or on a summon of yours. It will provide a no save aura of silence, great when facing caster (N)PCs

Grotesque

What makes you think that Enchantment is underpowered?
22 STR check iron horns.
Blindness/deafness.
Hold person.
Confusion.
Masochism, which is circumstantially excellent.
etc...
Silence is extremely powerful when cast upon yourself. If you're hellbent on giving someone spellfailure, extend silence and follow them about.
Not to mention that the two classes that even get silence are bard and cleric. And GSF enchantment is among the best (if not the ideal) choice of GSF for a bard.

Hold person and confusion are easily countered by cheap, commonly dropped potions.  Especially countered when you consider that clarity was recently beefed up to last longer.    Divination is maybe the only school on the same tier, yet it has "see invisibility" which is one of those spells needed in any sort of situation.

Enchantment's weaknesses aside, Illusion is maybe the most powerful school.  Not necessarily because of its spells but because a wizard who specializes in it doesn't lose much by forfeiting enchantment.  If you were to look at all wizards played over the years, I'm willing to bet more had school focus in illusion than any other school.

Seven rounds might be too high, but I think for a spell that I've never seen used in PVP, 2 or 3 rounds at least is needed to make it viable.  Maybe make duration dependent on whether or not you have spell focus?
