I suppose our mighty overlords can do a toggle on if you want to receive messages. !toggle or something, so that you're either PMed sendings or noticed them, if your name is in the list of those that wants them?

derfo

I don't know how possible it is (though I assume it is reasonably easy), but maybe you could make another separate bot named 'sendings,' or 'WEIRD SCREAMING MOFO,' so that the people who cannot handle seeing a couple lines of text containing questing potential can appropriately ignore that bot?

That way it alleviates the seperate channel problem, people who are annoyed by it can simply dismiss it without missing any usual Archipelago commands, and there will be a robot named 'WEIRD SCREAMING MOFO' constantly talking. As if these benefits were not already obvious!

Letsplayforfun

I don't know what to think of it, good or bad. I only wonder what the purpose of the 'experiment' is, as i don't see what it brings to the gaming experience.

Time will tell, i guess. "In DMs we trust" is my motto.

Listen in Silence

I would actually prefer for it to remain in the main channel. I've enough channels to check on as is. After all, I'm one of those sneaky IRC characters with circles of friends.

I definitely do not think the argument that it "clutters #efu" to be valid at all, considering the utter nonsense that is routinely said in there.

On balance I think it's good for the server, particularly those time-zones where things are a bit more quiet.

It isn't much fun to log on, wander around for 10 minutes looking for something/someone to do. And it isn't particularly healthy for the server for groups to develop that feel like they need to coordinate everything through their own private channels and/or PMs.

I guess the bottom line for me is that I tend to think that on balance it will encourage player interaction and help players have more fun here.

I also think it will be nice for the more casual player who can't really invest the time to spend so much time in-game but who can easily leave IRC up.

It is true that it is a bit of a freebie for those PCs that are not within the Ziggurat ruins or who don't have tokens, but that doesn't bother me much.

Howlando

Players having the option to mute/ignore Archipelago or whoever seems like it'd be reasonable for those players that would prefer that.

Sinister Seneschal

This is so awesome. Anyone who doesn't like it has to answer to me.

Solanin13

I think it's a great idea. Yes, it can be an issue concerning power questers, but I think that's more of an issue of original sending system being used in such a way to begin with.

Seeing something like "Hey you Sharb guards! Pay attention! There's a man robbing people blind in the docks!" or "I'm looking for a potion brewer and wand crafter" or "Cutters, There be an opportune knife in between the ribs of the poor beggar hiding behind the Hanged Goblin." in IRC can lead to loads of RP.

Halfbrood

I like it. As Howland said, I have always hated logging on early GMT and wandering around aimlessly, only to log out.

As someone who has limited playing time, but can leave IRC up an check it now and again its great!

Sternhund

It's awesome. Beyond sendings for quests, it'd be a more interesting way of becoming aware of major events happening IG that are announced through DM shouts and on the Ziggurat Token, giving everyone a chance to participate.

It is utterly awesome. I have no criticism.
