Hello, I'm playing as my monk character, Elisha Dulsaer, and while fighting ghouls in the Boneyard he contracted a disease. Having ran out of cures, I attempted to rest and hope the roll's would be strong with me, but alas the might of the DC was too strong for me and I received the negative abilities penalty. While normally this wouldn't be a problem, being Ascetic makes it so that no effects can be dispelled via spells Arcane/Divine/Potion/Scroll ect... Additionally, while I eventually did find a tonic to remove the disease, the brownish-yellow effect disappeared but the damaged abilities remain.

I attempted to use Lesser Restore from potions, to no effect, as well as utilizing the herbal tonics for disease and poison; the former received the message stating that the spell dissipated before it touches the character, which the latter two remarked that one cannot apply the items to a character who is not suffering from disease/poison. Additionally, I tried resting several times, with DM assistance even. I've even sought the help of NPC's casting their spells to remove disease/poison.

I imagine dying would solve the problem, but then there's the loss of experience and character immersion that follows... I can't bring myself to be like "Hey bro, can you stop RPing and kill me OOCly". Charging into a dungeon to seal my characters death doesn't fit my appetite either.

The quick fix I would suggest is to create a tonic that could have the effects of restoration, lesser or otherwise. I am already foreseeing a similar issue with more powerful effects, such as level drain being "incurable". Otherwise, I don't have an issue with making this dilemma, or similar issues in the future, a mini plot point with other players or DM's to discover a non-magical cure. After-all, an Ascetic monk must pursue enlightenment in the face of all adversity!

Thank you for your time,

This is not a bug. Salutary tonics only cure disease, they do not heal its ravages. Ascetics have forsaken all forms of magic. The convenience of restoration is no more conscionable because it would be convenient. This sort of hardship is exactly what your monk (and you) signed up for.

As for the suggestion, ascetics do have options to help themselves in these situations. I am certain you will discover them eventually. Until you do, try to head off disease before it deals ability damage and make the best of what's already been inflicted.

I can remember slogging through quests with 3 Constitution and 3 Strength on my ascetic. I have rarely had so much fun.

Awesome, I'll look at this entirely different. Thank you for your input.

Yes, as mentioned, it's not a bug, you should not benefit nor seek to benefit from any kind of magic cast upon you, curative, restorative, buffing, from items, placeables or PCs, or whatever. As to whether you would employ items that cast offensive magic spells on your enemies, or use curative, restorative, buffing etc items on your allies, is a matter for debate I suppose, and will vary from ascetic to ascetic, based on their motivations.
