Eurid Naeros, Specialist in the Spellguard Auxiliary's School of War, Disciple of the Red Knight, fell in battle with the Rosethorn mercenaries on Kythorn 12th, etc. He was created out of a desire to see more clerics who represented their faiths in EFU:R as well as the chance to play an Auxiliary who could strengthen Sanctuary's authoritarian atmosphere. The dogma of the Red Knight was tweaked to have a more nationalistic/jingoistic bend and Eurid himself was meant to serve as a model Auxiliary. Upon reaching the rank of Specialist, he was awarded with a relic of the Red Knight, an ornamental lance (thanks Howland!).

[hide=Background, for those who care]Background: Born and raised in the city-state of Akanax, Eurid  was no different from every other male born in Chessenta in nearly every  way. At the age of eight he was conscripted into Akanax's standing army  and came to see his fellow soldiers as brothers. As a soldier, Eurid  was competent- disciplined and capable of leadership but never truly  distinguishing himself in battle. He believed that his sharp mind and  penchant for tactics held little use compared to strength-of-arms, but  one night he saw a vision in his dreams. A crimson eagle urged Eurid to  seek it out, and his path would be made clear to him. Eurid's search led  him to the War College of Akanax, where a priestess of the Red Knight  was able to explain the significance of his dream. Eurid had been called  to serve Her, and in heeding the call, he would become capable of  serving his brothers, his King, his fellow man in a manner he could  never have imagined.

When the Darkening fell upon the world, Eurid was still abroad. By the  time his regiment marched into view of Akanax, the city was burning, the  tents and structures were sullied with soot and blood. Too late to come to  the city's defense, Eurid was commanded to lead a small platoon of  soldiers in search of the King and whatever survivors could be found  among the wreckage. Unfortunately, Eurid would never learn what became  of the greatest warrior of Akanax. His sermonizing and addresses to the  men which had once inspired them only drove them deeper into despair,  and his regiment began to disappear overnight. Eurid attempted in vain  to unite them, to prevent dissension in the ranks, but before long he  was left to wander the wastes alone. When all hope seemed lost, he  stumbled upon a portal to Sanctuary- a second chance, an opportunity to  turn back the clock and prevent the worst from occurring again. [/hide]

Quote from: Red Knight dogmaThe twilight of our age is upon us. Sanctuary is the  final battleground of mankind, so it is only fitting that it requires  the guiding hand of the premier deity of War- the Red Knight. War is a  transforming aspect to mankind, one in which the daily struggles of life  refines and reforms us into something better suited to Our Lady of  Strategy's purpose.

Her most Holy Strategists must counsel warriors on the battlefield as  well as off. Men fight most fiercely for a cause they can believe in,  and if the hearts and minds of the citizenry is united with their army,  no force on earth, above or below, may defeat them. It is noble and just  to fight for one's faith, country and people, and no greater honor than  to die in defense of a greater cause. There is nothing lower than a  mercenary, who trades his loyalty and labor for gold.

Pic-time.

Eurid hated adventurers, and their propensity for catchphrases. But beggars can't be choosers.

Eurid ended up encountering the ruby-embedded animatron early on in his time in Sanctuary, and was present for its destruction. Recovering the ruby shard ended up being a bit messier.

BOOM

Only in the Auxiliary do you get the chance to flee a muddy hole like Indiana Jones.

Eurid was frequently a POW.

When he wasn't captured, Eurid fought his share of battles both strange and weird.

Thanks to everyone I interacted to, and all the players in the SG and Aux factions: BTH, Ghostly, Cap, HDM, cmenden, Vlaid, Ethikos, tspawn, Gent and anyone else I may be missing. It was a lot of fun, and I would definitely recommend players to give the Auxiliary a shot.

Gentlemen of the Empire

Didn't have as many opportunities to interact with Eurid as I would have liked but he was a thoroughly interesting character. I particularly enjoyed some of our jaunts through the Machine and am rather sad to see him go.

CollegeDropout

Only got to interact a few times but sweet either way

cmenden

Eurid was fantastic! Well done, as always!

tspawn35

Man another good one lost...  I loved my interactions with him. He made the Aux fun.
