Rothe herding quest

I've done this quest twice now. The box of herder supplies doesn't unlock once the quest is completed, though I'm not sure if it is supposed to or if it is there for decoration only.

The bigger bug which I've been confirming with other groups is that the pay is wrong. The npc says he will pay 100 for each rothe saved, but in both of my experiences and that of others he does not pay correctly. Instead he gives a flat 300 gold even if no rothe die. Others have said that if a rothe dies it drops to 200 gold, even if 5 rothe survived.

Box of herder supplies does not unlock ever. You get your supplies in the bags.

The other is a bug if true. I'll have to watch the quest done.

From my single experience of the quest, there were three rothe when we entered the zone. Then, just before the waves began, another three spawned.

One of the rothe died, I'm not certain from which spawn, and this resulted in the reward for three people doing it being 200 gp.

The rothe are not removed when the quest starts anew? That would explain why you are getting less gold. Only the rothe spawning in while you are inside the quest counts.

Edit: The drawback being that any who die will count negatively on your reward.

I'll have to pay attention more closely next time. The first time I did it the area was empty and when the rothe spawned there was a whole bunch of them. The second time somebody ran ahead so by the time the rest of us got inside there were already wolves, so I can't say if it started with a lot or started with three and then got more on that incident of it.
