Custom Bard Song RP Adjustment

Just came up with an idea that might be cool, if take a pretty decent amount of work to see implemented.

We have all these custom bard songs that are based off a character, an event or some really specific thing or another in EFU. Maybe we could do something like...over the duration of the custom bard song, your character slowly sings colored text out with small lines of the song to protray what the song is? It might not have to be a complete song with a full lyrical verse crafted out, but just dropping a line now and then out in colored text to help portray what song you're singing might be cool.

Just for the songs with obvious specific themes or inspirations from specific characters/events.

Seeing as this was done, to a degree, with the monk stances, it'd be cool to see this as well. However, I know for a fact our DM crew has a horrible taste in music, and thus, player submissions should be considered.

Or we can just have shit ready to copy/paste as necessary.

Hound

Not sure that'd be a good idea. Uniform lyrics in special coloured text would get grating very quickly and probably detract from each bard's individuality - denying them accent, mannerisms, idioms, etc.

Tala

I like this idea. If not a floating text every once in a while during the duration, then maybe a line or two when you start the song?

This suggestion is also, as I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong, Vlaid), more so others know what song the bard sing and what's it about. Currently, players can just click on the song that is the most beneficial for them mechanically, even if it goes against the situation and the people who are there, and they'll have no clue (Both the bard and the other PCs around).

This isn't even the player's fault imo, since even they don't know what's the song is all about. I think it will give the use of bard-song better rp, and actually make the bards use songs that will have to adjust to the situation, or face the consequences IG.

If this happens, which I hope won't because the visual graphics decern it enough and this will be just a grating addition to me personally,  then I'd prefer emotes along like lines of [sings a haunting tune] / [sings a ballad about sembian rum] etc rather than lyrics. That way your character can still be creative about what he sings.

Vlaid

Well, for me personally, I'm not sure with custom bard songs you should be creative about what you're singing. These are specific songs with specifics themes of what you're singing.

I guess bare minimum the idea would work with stuff like...

[Sings a jaunty tune about the failures of the Spellguard...]

[Sings a somber dirge of the people who have died defending Sanctuary...]

...and so forth, would work well if not actual lyrics.

Ironside

It's a neat idea, but the implementation IG might grate after a while.  Canned colored emotes are nifty but having them everywhere might detract from the rarity/cool factor of the ones we already have.

It might also contribute to a rise of ftr/bard's blatantly "phoning in" their musical talents a la [bangs his bongos], which isn't the best thing.

I think something like this was done back during EfU:M? Granted it was songs you had personally written. Not sure why it was taken out, if it was.

It'd be cool if the bard could write up his personalized lines... we had this in the MUDs I used to play and it was awesome.

Stranger

I like the idea very much, having briefly seen a certain monk stance reciting jumbled, random bits.

It could be limited to a single message at the beginning of the song, however...
