Examine Mark - Non-Rogues

So currently there are at least 2 or 3 classes that receive Examine Mark as a class but do not benefit from class levels when receiving it.

It has been suggested that either just Ranger or all classes which receive it as part of a perk (Ranger, Barbarian, Fighter, possibly Sorcerer as well?) be added into the script for Examine Mark so that when they receive it via a perk they get the full functionality (rather than the very limiting default with no class levels accounted for).

As a secondary suggestion, it might be nice for a very basic examine mark be added and accessible by everybody; allowing everyone to detect if someone is in stealth mode and detected by you (and that being the only function permissible by it).

Maybe just have it account for all classes and leave it at that? You need certain ones and certain levels to benefit from it, really.

Mass Transit

In EFUM, examine mark with a craven barbarian was fully functional.

You may get the mark but it still requires specific skills, obviously, to be made use of. If you got 0 skillpoints in appropriate skills, it's given you won't have very good eye on what to see.

It has some quite good uses to it, so it will not be available for everyone.

Howlando

Unless I'm misreading the script it appears to only take rogue and assassin levels into account for some of what is learned (regardless of skill points). Although skills should be required also, full class rangers should have full access to the ability in my opinion. Additionally,

I would support this, a simplified examine mark that just reveals whether the character is in stealth mode or not would definitely be desirable. In the past we tried to have it so all PCs that were stealthed were marked by a fuzzy brown glow but it proved kind of laggy so it was removed. Unfortunate that NWN doesn't have a stealth/crouching animation.

It may be that it also is limited by class levels, but if you do not have any appropriate detection skills, you will not be able to spot anything.

I may have made it unclear in my suggestion, but the main point was to include class levels (for whatever classes it might be fitting to be included) so that with the correct skills you will gain access to the higher tiers of information locked behind rogue class levels (which you won't have as a non-rogue, regardless of skills invested).

I'd really hate to see every ranger have this awesome ability.  People vastly underestimate its usefulness.  As is I believe those rangers with FE: Human can get it? Why not keep it at that?

I think (as far as I know) we're only talking here in this thread about modifying the existing examine mark provided by FE: Human to give the full functionality, not expanding it to all rangers.

Currently Examine Mark provides varying levels of information based on various skill levels and Rogue levels. Being that Rangers are not rogues they only get very basic information out of Examine Mark regardless of having the investment in the skills required.

This could use a little love.

Bumping this so that we may one day all be able to tell if we've spotted someone skulking about. Somewhat annoying to realize too late that nobody was reacting to someone walking past because only you spotted them. Would be nice to be able to just use a tool on someone to see that they are in stealth mode.

Bumping this up for discussion of being implemented again.

A small tool to simply determine if someone has stealth toggled on when you have detected them for non-rogues would be immeasurably useful for those non-rogues who have high spot/listen. Or some other novel approach that I haven't conceived for determining if someone is in stealth mode would be equally useful.

Perhaps now with some of the recent larger projects in the rear view window this might be possible.
