Does that include PvE when exploring or on quests/etc? I know the matter involved can have some implications for those as well.

I haven't investigated this thoroughly, but I've only heard of reports of issues when it was used in PvP circumstances (perhaps the flurry of combat interrupting the intended progression from cutscene mode to normal mode).

If this is about what I think it is about, then I'm going to tell you that: yes, it definitely works in relation to PVE too.

I can report that one person using substance after waking up was immune to all forms of damage. Be it physical, elemental or magical. He was, put plainly, immortal.

EDIT : I took Substance, entered transition and it loaded and straight away vision loaded, thus messing with the Duplicate and giving an error! All good now! (Dont take substance just before transition)

I think taking substance right before transitioning may lead to potential issues. Wisest to avoid that, if anyone else gets trapped in a vision during other circumstances let us know.
