This suggestion is based entirely on my vanity, and I apologize if it's been suggested before or if it's actually possible already and I haven't figured out how to do it.

But I was wondering if it would be at all possible to pay either the tailor or the armor crafter to take the enchantments of one object and place it on another. Such as taking the benefits of robes and putting it on a different pair of robes. Of course, there'd need to be restrictions to it, such as you can't take armor and make it appear as clothing, and anything else too drastic.

For the most part, certain loot is made to look a certain way because that is how the DM team want it to be.

Bonuses, etc. on items are there because of the 'backstory' of the loot. If there are bonuses for an item being a snotty rag (disease saves, etc.) you can't just move them onto a lovely pristine rag that looks pretty and expect them to give the same protection (as one example.)

That could most certainly be part of the restrictions then, if something like this could be implemented. I've noticed it's kinda like that with dye, that there are certain items that it can't be used on.
