Elemental Gods and Druids

It would be nice if Ishtshia, Grumbar, Akadi and Kossuth all granted spells to druids. So far I guess only Kossuth does, and maybe Grumbar?

Add to it the granted specific elemental summon theme for the druid that goes with one of them as so far we end up needing to ask the changes to DMs.

Ghaunadaur is another that used to offer spells in canon 2e but stopped in 3e.  Ooze druids are cool and a different spin on the faith.  I imagine with a lot of his follow base destroyed as the illithid disassembled the drow, he'd open his divine powers to ever more people in order to regrow his power.

I would love to see all elemental gods opened up to druids. My current PC would have almost certainly been a druid had that been the case.

Regarding elemental deities and Druids, there is nothing to stop a character from following one currently. Simply speak to a DM about it and they can open it up, or alternatively you are free to use Silvanus as a catch all 'nature deity' for druids to gain spells - this we feel expresses 'gaining your powers from nature itself' and allows you the opportunity to add an elemental spin via the Gods of the elements :)

Nothing stops you from revering to these deities. You don't get power from Gods themselves, hence you can pick Silvanus to represent druidic deity - but you can still pay reverence to any God you choose, as crazy or unorthodox as it may feel to others. It may have IC consequences, it may not.

The issues here are not only the IC obstacle but also OOC obstacle that puts you in need to explain to the DMs why you're wanting an elemental summon theme when you got in the Deity Field the name of Silvanus, for instance.

[LIST=1]
  • First: you must manage to get the DM attention and availability. Sometimes you go through an entire week before you find someone available to hear you.
  • Second: DMs often won't grant you such alteration because there is no sense that someone under the coat of Silvanus to have access to the summon.
  • Third: they will explain you that the summon is too special or too strong (Honestly, the elementals were seriously nerfed and they got no true mechanical advantages upon other summon themes, probably the tier 3 beetle being even more useful than a tier 3 water elemental).

The elementals were just an example of what kind of issues this suggested "fixing" can get you into. In the end, your concept will always be the odd guy that got Silvanus as your god and for stupid reason got a love for something that isn't him.

Through my two years of EFU I have learnt that the less you must depend on DMs to make your character work, the better. You guys got a growing player base, a hundred of major and minor issues. Another ton of bug fixing, scripting to do, item creation and toolset problems...

If it is possible to open these deities for mechanical automated choice, without bothering anyone else to grant you whatever they are meant to and to make everything work as it should, I think it would be interesting. For instance, like what was done with the handicaps (light sensibility, flies... missing limb). Now, if there is some story/ cannon limitation, I will refrain from pushing the subject. ^_^

Would it be possible for a Wildnature option on the deity picking thingie?

I guess it's what Silvanus currently represents.

Knight Of Pentacles

It is.  But that is often misleading to DMs who think your druid is a Silvanite rather than an ordinary druid.  Or atleast, it happened to me on one occasion.

It'd be far more simple, atleast in my train of thinking I don't know about mechanically.  But, to have all druids have "wildnature" in their deity field by default and have it unchanging. If they wish to revere a deity, they can do so in game.

This shift to allow druids determining that druids innately receive blessings from nature is something that happened during early EFU:R and isn't something we've properly documented or implemented. In a perfect world we would do that so it's a fair suggestion! Mostly the thought of doing it myself makes me wince.

MaimedGod

Druids deriving their power from nature is a pretty big shift from canon FR that should probably be elaborated on a little bit more, I think... I certainly had no idea this was the case until well into my time here on EFU.
