Nonhostile summon attacks

This has annoyed me a bit for a while now. Certain summons, when you use them, employ attacks that can also affect friendlies. The level 2 illusion eyeball springs to mind. However, after last night I found that this flaw may also be used as a PvP exploit. In theory you can hostile a single enemy of an entire pack of foes and have your area of effect summon nuke away without the large majority of the people present even seeing you as Hostile.

Since one of the proven ways to get rid of summons is to kill the summoner, I feel that this is just a little bit over the top. I am not sure what can be done, but as a minimum requiring summoners to use /c hostile all before dropping summons with AoE powers that affect friendlies as well would be good.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: I want to make clear that I do not accuse the player in question of intentionally exploiting! I only logged in like 15-20 minutes before the fight happened and the guy might well have used /c sethostile all before that, missing my login in the combat log for some reason. I am concerned because it is a potential exploit and that worries me.

If you're going to attack someone in a group of players, be sure to have everyone who might not be OK with that set to hostile.

PvP hostile extends to more than just that one person you're balling with.

If the pvp playertool, an instant action, is used on a minion does it set the master's standing to hostile?

With respect to AOE I think that concern is true of all characters using area attacks? Mind you its the attacker's prerogative to set everyone to hostile, but I've found keeping that player-tool quick-slotted helps me react more quickly.

I always get confused in these discussions of hostility mechanics. If I just set the whole server to hostile with "/c hostile all," will I be okay?
