A dissenting opinion

Well, The other opinions thread is gone, so I figured I should post here? Idk. Anyway:

Those content in a situation are rarely as loud as those pissed about it. I figured that I might as well say something that I don't think has been posted often yet:

I like EfUA better then I liked EfU.

I know, people are going to call me a tasteless suck-up. Or wont now, I precluded them. Ha. But would have otherwise. And I understand it may look like it to some of you, but there are genuine reasons I like EfUA better.

-No Consumable Bloat- Consumable bloat make PvP ridiculous. He who was buffed beat he who wasn't. Always. It was, quite frankly, getting ridiculous. I am endlessly glad to have it at least temporarily gone.
-Better Maps and Music- I don't think I have to say much here other then Nwn 1.69.
-More power for the Players: I don't think this has sunk in, So I might as well reiterate it: They are letting us build our own CITY. As in, Big place where people live. We can live in the gobo town for all time, or fortify somewhere else, or anything.
-More DM interaction: I think we all have noticed it. And it is thouraghly awesome.

Thought Id drop that in there.

Howlando

I don't think this is a dissenting opinion, judging from all the feedback we've received (lots of very positive feedback) as well as the explosion in terms of player count.

We still have a lot of work to do, and a lot of building to do, but in a month or so I think it will be good to see how people feel.

Speaking for myself, I'm super excited and enthusiastic right now.

UnholyWon

I agree with everything Hammerfist0 is saying.

1. Consumable Extravaganza: the amount of consumables made, sold, and used was crazy. I'm not sure if its there, but EFUSL should have a consumables chart, number of consumables made, sold, and/or used by said character.

What would be interesting, since EFU:A is new, what if on the islands there was a "occurence" of unknown orgins that now pollutes consumables. In order to create consumables certain items are now needed, or the effects are just failure to create, or a consumable that does the opposite (Bull Strength potion creation failure creates a potion that does strength damage, and the player is none the wiser till it happens). Seems like a reasonable goal for a wizard or sorcerer to catalog a scroll making, potion brewing, and wand making book of the local items used to counter act the pollution. I don't know how possible this, and scripting this could be annoying. It is a cool idea though, I think.

The war of the consumable race is gone, for now. Huzzah!

2. You know what, I'm completely clueless here. I haven't even made a new character yet. Huzzah! To new better maps and music!

3. My last character for EFU, his one true goal was to get his hands on some property and make it into his Tavern and Inn. When I did get it, it was extremely satisfying. Also, if you can stick it out long enough you can retire the character there, maybe.

Yeah, you can build whatever your heart desires. I think that is really freaking awesome!

4. When I would get DM interaction I would get this warm fuzzy feeling throughout my whole body, and then all of hell would break loose, so much for the warm fuzzy feeling. I have adrenaline now, Whoohoo! Bring it on!

5. Tabula Rasa, its a clean slate. Best thing about a clean slate is you can put whatever the hell you want on it.

Good luck to everyone's new characters, and goodluck to the DMs.

Goblin Butcher

Um about the "No consumable bloat" from what i can see so far there are so many charge items you can get in 2-6 quests that give 5 or ~more~ charges of bulls, aid, bless, barkskin, invis etc. I think consumables will be more important than ever, but the thing is, they won't make us super powerful being that we're all wearing splints and breastplates etc >.>

Posting that I do not, in fact, hate a change is not a suck up. I did not personally complement a DM, or otherwise participate is accused Brown-nosing.

I was merely stating an opinion.

Go troll another thread. Hmph.

Berosion

I feel the change is really great, and really fun. The server WAS getting stale - having played various chars over the course of the Rebellion and before, everything was pretty much just the same as it ever was. It would all be just wonderful, if it weren't for that little last thing.

Having just tried the Way, I think it's fairly safe to say - that with the massive PC death which occurred now - not many more will ever try that one, or if they do, manage to come up that way to the rest of the server. It feels, to me, as if we've been bereft of the ending to the EFU story - like if someone ripped out the last page of a book you've been reading. You still probably know how it's going to end - but it just doesn't feel the same, y'know?

A great change, and a great server - but why write a book only to rip out that last page?

That's just my feelings on it. :/

Tasteless suckup

Woo! Go EfU:A DM team! Rock on!

I understand you wanted to try something different, but I feel it was too rushed, too soon. I mean, yes, the old server was getting stale, but I personally didn't feel that you needed to litterally destroy the old server.

I don't know if it's just me having trouble getting used to a new server (granted, unless I make a new character, I'm stuck in the 'Dark), or if I'm really just reaching the end of my rope for EfU.

Been an honor playing, but maybe I just aren't suited to the new EfU.

Caddies

I am greatly enjoying the lower-level, slimmer-consumable new server where most people are scraping around for splint. It is a welcome reprieve from EfU, where wands of PHK et al were being thrown around with joyous abandon. Holding a potion of something as common as Bull's Strength in unsure reserve instead of just using it on a whim and being able to buy 20 more next time a crafter logged on really adds something to the game for me.

Gold is alot more scarce too, which can only be a good thing.

Cruzel

I don't think anyone of us who gave 'negative' feedback intended to say the new stuff sucks.

I have not  personally seen any of it, but any feedback expressing my distaste for the change was in the way the change was carried out, not what is was changed to. I am sure it is well done, and obviously a lot of time was put into it.

But I don't think anybody was saying they do not like the new setting, they merely preferred the old one.

That said. How can you not love new toys? Everybody loves new toys. Especially when they are shiny and pretty, which from the screenshots, EFU;A is definately that.

I just wanted to touch on this real quick. I don't believe the old server was destroyed. In fact, you can return to the Underdark and do Underdark quests, visit Sanctuary, and prance around in Traensyr if that's your desire! :)

Yes, EFU:A is a new module, but it's a continuation of EFU's story. Personally, I think everyone is having the nostalgic feeling of leaving Sanctuary, especially because we ended on such a high note! Yet, once we start delving into the creamy EFUA cake, it's going to be one hell of a ride. :)

Not to be the, what's the word, "wet blanket" here - but I think the problem might be that some people (I) don't want to go make a new character on a new server so that we can go *back* to the Underdark. We want to get *out* of the Underdark with an old character so that we may get to a new server, if you get the picture.

I think the DMs have done a great job on the server revamp, but just feel that a whole lot of story and effort has been lost in the process of transferring the storyline.

Foop

From what I have experienced so far, im loving it! Havent been this hooked since I once started here long ago.
And seeing near the whole player base struggle with the first few levels at the same time is lots of fun aswell. ;)
