Lieutenant Colmes,

Walk me through your logic. Why are you threatening Fiordelise with fines for "fear-mongering?" I have heard Vorazol make numerous sendings decrying the Kusatma as a crime against the Wheel and an idol of Pra'raj, which must be dismantled by the faithful. This is obviously untrue; it is the pride of the Tenth Legion. It is a shining jewel of Baz'eel. But I have not once heard of the Fourth Legion even criticizing him for this.

Fiordelise is, meanwhile, clashing with Vorazol over his refusal to denounce Longleg, denounce the Wyrm, or even just denounce the idea of murdering citizens of Ephia's Well. This is factually true. You can ask him yourself, and learn he genuinely believes the Wyrm is a proper part of the Wheel. This was the premise of his collusion with Longleg.

It fully beggars my comprehension that you would threaten this girl for speaking out against him.

Right now, you are in need of political allies. Fiordelise is a moral believer, the type of woman who is willing and ready to be excommunicated by the Dome of Man if it means doing what she believes is right. I strongly recommend that you put in the time to be her friend and take her seriously, because she will not once flinch about standing by you in return. Whether it is giving attention and endorsement to her hospital projects (she is willing to treat your wounded soldiers, at no expense to you, and runs a dedicated care center in Palm Heights) or just taking a minute to talk to her, to assure her that she is seen as the citizen she is and that the Janissaries won't stand for violence against her or other Modini immigrants.

Three years ago, maybe even two, you didn't know who the Wroth was. You came here from a distant land. So now has she. Her home might not be dead yet, but it is dying, and she knows that. There is no real place for her there. Nor is there for me. Nor is there for those like us, who came here the Knifeless poor, the unwanted, and the exiled.

Modini like myself, Zina, and Fiordelise make up the core of the succeeding generation of the Gold League.

The Banda Rossa has very recently abandoned us, in an unambiguous contract, for a White League under the unified Rose.

Your conflict with Argent Argyris is rapidly moving to its climax, and a time for rapprochement with the Gold League will follow in its wake.

Take a moment to win hearts and minds while the iron of opportunity is hot.

Moretti,

You were correct.

Your wife has no reason to fear or believe that violence against her or any citizen will be accepted or overlooked by the Fourth Legion. I will maintain my originally stated point, however, that we do not need to fear "Wyrmists around every corner" and that arguments over the bellows to that degree should be resolved in person. Or attempted at, at least.

Lieutenant Colmes,

Zina is furious about the Banda Rossa betraying the Gold League. Unsatisfied with just the five votes she's putting against them, she wants to punish them with a bevy of sanctions, to teach them a lesson about party loyalty, but is grasping for ideas.

If you have any suggestions for her, stop by her shop and shoot the breeze sometime.

Moretti,

I'll stop by next time she's available.
