Letter to Lt. Colmes

Lt. Colmes,

I absolutely detest writing letters, but I've been moved to write you with a request.

Please advise your Scarabs, primarily Rhuk Nor, that under the current penal code a fine of 500 dinar or exceeding 500 dinar can only be issued by a Judge or Officer of the Janissary. Unless Rhuk Nor was promoted suddenly before your arrival on the scene, his attempt to extort my person for having reasonable belief that my Balestriere was being attacked and required defensive support is beneath the Janissary.

I use the word 'extort' because the Scarab Rhuk Nor used threats of violence and detainment against me if he was not paid the requested fine. Under the current Penal Code extortion is not against the law and he is well within his rights, but such behavior is unbecoming and stonefolk are often naïve of such nuances.   

That said, my Balestriere has informed me the matter of my 499 dinar fine has been discussed and voided as part of that discussion, and my action were not criminal but in accordance with my station as a Relucta of the Banda Rossa.
