Aubrey,

I verified our archives, and a letter to the Chief Scribe was issued, requesting the transfer of the funds already two weeks ago. This was issued by Scribe Jaecop, and included the fact that both Legates approved of it. However since then nothing seemed to have been done, or at least no official result has come of it.

I will see whether the matter wasn't accidentally buried by the Scribes, but as far as I can tell we passed on the request, it just hasn't been performed yet.

Legate Marcellus Saenus

Pandip

Marcellus,

I look forward to seeing the results of the Pyramid's generosity. It would be unseemly for us to flount the richness of our coffers in public whilst denying the People of Hasheema's Hope their promised due because of a clerical error.

And speaking of funds - have you given further contemplation to the Rose's desire for monetary recognition for its recent actions? We continue to be much maligned by the hostilities of the Fourth Legion in the aftermath of their 25,000 bonus. It seems strange to me that they are simultaneously so in need of funding but only appear capable of fomenting discord with other members of the Accord.

Marcellus,

I understand you have shared discussions with Fiordelise about her efforts to better the health and well-being of our People; that you have charged her with proving herself before she is conferred the title of Palatial Physician.

It is rare for me to feel capable of so freely giving a ringing endorsement of a person's character, of the importance and purity of their efforts. You know that I am ever eager to dispense with a cutting critique; to find nagging flaws in the actions of any I lay my gaze upon.

But I have found no such flaws in Fiordelise - save, mayhap, that she has yet to find the sureness of her voice in spite of the mellifluousness of the tone.

Allow me, for the time being, to lend my song to her cause. As Lyrist of the Lost Hearth, attendant of the Grandmaster's will, and representative of the Cinquefoil Rose, I earnestly believe that empowering Fiordelise to act with the backing of the state will better the lot of Ephia's Well and her People.

We are so rarely given the opportunity to make decisions for the People bereft of political considerations and coy machinations. Let us take comfort in the ease with which we might make this decision. Let us see Fiordelise uplifted as the Palatial Physician and see our citadel flourish for it.

Marcellus,

You intimated to me that it was both unfair and unreasonable for me to make a public fuss to get things done considering our competing schedules. You insisted that you would take better to letters.

Because of the disrespect inflicted upon the Balladeers in the last allotment - instigated by the Banda Rossa and supported by the legates - the Balladeer's coffers are now completely empty. We have been self-sufficient for an extended period of time, but I believe it is time for the state to make right the wrongs inflicted upon us previously.

You funded the Janissary with 25,000 less than two weeks after they received and churned through 35,000. The Balladeers received 5,000 and have been self-sufficient for nearly two months in spite of it.

If there is to be no allotment, I believe it perfectly reasonable to expect the Balladeers to receive their due.

Aubrey,

Do forgive that I do not respond to your letters every time. I hope you noticed however, we transfered a sum of dinari to the Rose, the majority going to the Balladeers who, I believe, need it the most. For the sake of fairness the Astronomers and Janissaries also received some coin, but the Balladeers received a good portion of it.

Fiordelise was also made our Palatial Physician, but the challenge has become finding a place for her to use. We will have to find something suitable, and help her obtain the tools and means that are needed.

 Legate Marcellus Saenus
