Dear Legate,

The preliminary election Dossier is complete.  The picture it paints is perhaps not one you shall be pleased to see.


I shall summarize on this front page.  Your seat is in peril, on several fronts.

Based on my conversations with the voters, the "Marcellian Minimums" of each league are as follows:

Gold League: 17   
White League:12   
Purple League :13
Unknown/Voters : 19
Names on the list likely to become ineligible per the scribes : 12
(These questionably eligible voters have not been seen, perhaps dead, or sometimes emerge simply around election season)

We can discuss the core support of each in person, but it is important to note that you have lost the Banda support at this time. They are slotted as "Undecided" due to recent friction. The threat of a trial upon Mirielle was most ill advised.

Of the league rosters, I will draw particular note to the Gold League, and highlight the peril you now face within the league itself.  While I have no particular intent to run because I simply do not have time to effectively operate as Legate :  The peril you face is that those listed do not support you, and will support any challenger's petition over your own in the primary.  Your own "Marcellian Minimum" has been eroded by your actions to please the Astronomers, however confident you feel in having the comptroller's support.

Those you have offended (In particular, the Banda) are likely to choose any other candidate over you, even if it is not I. You have significant reparations to make, within the League itself and its prominent members. The Banda alone control enough signatures to replace you at their leisure.

Dear Qari,

I anticipate you will turn over those signatures within our League to the sitting Legate.  There is no peril within the Gold.  The Banda do not "control enough signatures" because the League is not going to support an upheaval of the incumbent.

You must ensure those loyal to you cast their votes for me.  The Banda Rossa are too busy gripping their nethers and negotiating, re-negotiating, and re-re-negotiating their demands from me to see the broader picture here.  If at this point they don't wish to come to the table with me, then it's a question of their own suicidal tendencies.

I am once again independently wealthy, and they no longer have anything I need but a minority vote within their own Accorded faction.  Vesryn is not going to win an election, and Nesilhan is far more inclined to support the Janissaries over the Rossans. 

They need me in a seat more than they would care to admit. 

All in all though, good work.  I'll consider how to make the best of this.

Dear Legate,

The Banda are not loyal to me, their signatures are their own. They are rapidly becoming the majority within the Gold League and are in a position to sway the primary if another candidate pays them enough, or if they are wroth enough at your actions.  They may even all choose to sign for another of their choosing that they insert within the League.  I will caution you that no candidate that has threatened the Banda, has won their election.  Ariel tried this, and her support evaporated.  The Banda can match your spite, and I advise you not to test this.

At present, I have no need nor intent to direct my employees to do anything but do as a Gold would - To seek favor and profit in exchange for their votes. I have not directed them to oppose you in any way, and you are free to court their signatures and votes in whatever way you desire. If you are independently wealthy, I am sure you can afford them.

I shall remind you that my own price, the change to the espionage law, has yet to be paid for my own signature and support. This dossier will be the extent of the support I offer, until that price is paid.
