[Hide = Illul 7, J+16]I have begun to hear more tales of how the Balestriere rose to rank. Kragg for cold-cocking a Student infront of Condiottero lois for mouthing off. Gianluca for hunting down one of the Bashmu-Kur cultists who were plaguing the well. I seem to be in a differing situation as La Capitana wishes a Mage, but the situation continues as I prepare for the Condottiero's request.

Politics of this City are beginning to seep into my work again, this time from the war front. The Legates have committed us to a war on the Balladeer's spurning but they have no treasury, they have no plan. I have tried to tell all I could that this puts us considerably behind the curve as our enemy forces are unknown, the terrain unknown, force multipliers.

To engage in foreign territory, with unknown forces, with no reconnaissance, is a cosmically unwise approach by two figures who proclaim themselves to be students of history.

But we will endure, it is why we are professional.[/hide]

I have now heard his tale of how he became a Balestriere. Tending the coffers and health of the company. Is this a strange, hazing ritual? I find it suspect they would all begin to offer me these tales in such succinct methods in consequential days.

Fortuna smiles on my works but I must not let that distract me. A Recluta's duties are simple, and I will simply pursue them, until ordered otherwise.

War comes, preparations must be made. It is a disappointment to have learned of both Yomar and Alvero. This is the nature though of the trade of war. Those you meet will not be known long, and those who you meet are kept at arms length. Friendship is a civilian luxury. I do not miss them as friends but as assets, they are now dead or compromised.

But there are ever new refugees, and the nature of the Company shall see La Banda forever brought new potential. It is only a matter of figuring out how to best harness that potential towards the client's desire.[/hide]
