Beneath the cruel moon, apathetic to all that occur below her, peace shattered by a peeling scream into the night...

QuoteDM Shout
-- A loud and sudden scream from the League of White Offices. --

-- A dwarf with a terrifying axe standing over him... --

-- Word of the death of Ordrem Klard ranges far and wide... --

-- The former League Official of the Whites, dead in a pool of his own blood. --

QuoteAlexandria Sayburgh
For far too many of you, that was the first and last time his voice was heard. I will break this cycle, the people who endure the weight of gold grow stronger by the day. The hidden shackles will snap away.

You who toil, suffer and endure, who dream and seek, and who desire refuge. You will find it among us, unstained by corruption or dyes of influence.

QuoteMal-kathor
Today we celebrate! The feckless, maggot of an official of our league has died. The one who allowed Estellise to hamstring us without complaint or lifting a finger is dead.

Estellise, I warned you there would be consequences. For you see, I too am something of a seer.

Death, woe, and worry once more crash upon Ephia's Well as another political figure carved down in ruthless violence. Refugee eschewing the Ashfolk custom of peace in favor of most brutal violence.

Antediluvian Legate Sol Auk and newly raised Legate Zaniah Almirah in attendance as Magistrate Qari and Lieutenant Rennik Colmes stood for the State.

In defense of the accused came Advocate Cindy Merryweather, Attorney at Law, JSD, Etc. Classically trained at the Baz'eelan Legal Academy.

The charges were succinct: Murder.

What followed though was a rumor-filled, gallery-gasp inspiring array of reveals.

Before opening arguments even concluded shouted the accused "We had a Deal, Colmes!"

At the insistence of the Dwarves' advocate, did he take to silence once more.

The State's first witness, Alys of the White League, was called recounting the arrival of the Dwarf in a brutal and cold murder.  The word Kulkund mentioned.

The Advocate's only question was of the Janissary's actions within the Cells. And in shocking reveal came claim, from the State's own witness, that they attempted to cajole her into declaring the Deceased as a Victim of the Wyrm Cult.

From there matters only grew more muddy as further witnesses, Alexandria of the White League, declared that the Accused after the execution did not flee, simply stood there, only "Turning himself in" to Lieutenant Colmes.

Another Witness,  Magistrate Qari, bringing word that Glazier Hortsby's name was upon the lips of the deceased. At this point did the Accused fall into a fury declaring that Lieutenant Colmes helped planned the Murder, and spewed such vitriol that his own Advocate recused herself and stormed out of the Courthouse. The Dwarf going on to say this wasn't the deal, that he was being cheated, and if he was going down he'd bring down everyone with him.

Of the Closing came declaration by Lieutenant Colmes he had met with the Glaziers, that a deal was offered to him, but that he walked away from the table before any agreement and the Dwarf's ruthless murder was a politically motivated endeavor of Kulkund, of the Glaziers, of more.

Of the Closing came declaration by the accused "If I'm Guilty, Colmes is Guilty. Plain as that."

...Ultimately it was declared that only by B'aara's mercy were the Janissaries involved in attempting to see Alys of the White League declare the victim a Wyrm Cult - of which she declared was a falsehood not punished. That they were not publicly named and drowned in the Pilgrim's Plaza for such a miscarriage of justice. That Baz'eel would know their newest Lieutenant cannot keep control of his own men.

That Procedure mattered, that law mattered, and that having survived his own Assassination attempt at the hands of the Wyrm Cult such a thing was unacceptable to Legate Sol Auk. The Dwarf declared innocent, and released.

...He would flee the courtroom shouting "HONOR!", returning to his Glazier brethren.
