Dear Arterian,

I hope this letter is not too presumptuous. Since there appears few chances for us to speak, I thought I might as well write you!

I read in the Empty Gallows that you had discovered something repugnant about Diakos? So much so that you renounced your membership from the Whites?

Is this true? Can you share with me anything about how this came to be? Does something foul truly lurk at the heart of the League? I dread to think it the case.

As I doubt you care for divided political lines when it comes at the expense of people's welfare, I would still welcome your thoughts on how we might improve the lot of the stonefolk. I have spoken with a number of them and do have some ideas for how we might begin, but would welcome your continued input if you still feel as you did.

Faithfully yours,
Sadira of the Uutramut,
C/O The Krak

Nazey

Sadira of the Uutramut,

It is true; but more so a general impression of the man by details of his trail, and investigation of those that knew him.  I imagine the man was once something noble, but has since associated with foreign sovereigns, and all manner of unsavory individuals.  None that we have spoken to have painted the man in a very flattering light.

It seems he has associated with many people, and likely crossed most of them.  I'll not commit to paper the details of our following his trail, you may ask Aubrey or Kypros, but suffice it to say; our trail ended in a most unscrupulous location - and the implications of whom he has associated with are troubling.  It is so much so that an assassin of the Wyrm shoved his dagger into my lungs.  Had my companions not intervened quickly, I would not have survived.

This was a catalyst for the renunciation of my membership, but not the only cause.  To be frank, Sadira, the White League is full of politicking and insincerity.  I see it among my bickering peers who mask their political ambitions under the guise of charity and empathy, but with time the cracks were unmistakable to me.  So many words spoken are hollow and calculated.  I will not name names; you may make your own judgements.  Along with the very nature of the Assembly, which I strongly believe (but am incapable of currently proving beyond reasonable doubt) has been corrupted and changed from the Magus Asterbadi's original vision of an Ideal Republic.   It is no wonder Ibn Ghasil has refused to participate any further.

Most of all, though, it was a personal matter; I'm ignorant of so many things.  I understand so little of this desert I now claim to be my home, and even of Ephia's Well.  Scholarship is my true calling, but I am a wholly ignorant man here.   I may participate in politics in the future, but not until I have shed my own failings.  I could  feel myself become calculating, thinking more of attaining a Voice and winning elections than living my ideals.  It sickened me, and so I drew away.  And perhaps the effect upon me was so severe I felt inclined to give away all of my dinari, if only to prove to myself I had some sincerity left.

As for the Stonefolk, I should be glad to help from a neutral position - if you wish my input.  Send me your proposals and I may review them and offer whatever advice I can, or find me for a coffee.
