Currently wildshape provides more AC with cloth + mage armor than it does with leathers / studded leathers or anything else, even if you mage armor in said piece to make it equal in "default" form prior to shifting.

This includes items with a default bonus to armor, so a +1 set of leathers (2 armor, +1) actually has 2 less AC than cloth with mage armor spell or +4 cloth.

In other words as a generic example -

Cloth +4  - A druid might have 25 AC shifted
Studded leather +1 - A druid would have 24 AC shifted
Leather +2 / mage armored - A druid would have 22AC shifted

However all of these situations are the same AC in default form.
