Here Strode Seven Striders...

When I made Horatio Fynn I'll be the first to admit I was in a bad place. After Ebersol's failings I was deeply irritated with both how I handled things and how my plans fell short. I just wanted something to roam around and smash buttons and click red things and PvP a few people to vent my frustrations.  Also at the time I had finished The Mandalorian so the idea of a faceless Commando PC fighter/rogue/assassin using tricks and traps and tinkering was very appealing.  He did in fact have max lore and craft trap! Even on my shameless murder builds... lol.

I very nearly made him a Half Orc due to this amazing Orcan Pirate Portrait but having "Orcish heritage" somewhere along the way of his forgotten past was how I excused his having of 10 charisma, his brashness, and his other offputting characteristics which are very outside my usual area of play. In hindsight I do kind of wish I had gone Half Orc with him but that's a tale for another day.

Early on he was Very menacing. I had just gone to buy some wands but Loops and Cmenden got really paranoid about me quietly sitting on the bed and watching them then lingering there so I played into it.

I pulled out a knife which caused them to get even more nervous. Then I pulled out an apple.

It sort of became my go to "Thing" Moments later pulling out an appl

What started as my cranky PvP venting red-click therapy however began to change. After a much needed 2 month break I decided it was better off not to just smash stuff.

When I came back however I had a new concept for the PC. Due to the nature of the City of Rings I can't share too much but I can share a few things i've collected in my journey. A PC who began as a notorious hater of everything and everyone, fighting with every faction, bickering over Assassination fees, and more would go on the single greatest adventure I've ever managed to tell in EFU to date.

The second day of my Character I found the +2 heal Infirmary mask. I would wear it every day, only removing it on a few rare occasions with my Crew, at key moments, until this very day he retired within the City of Baz'eel in a heartfelt and tearful endlude among his family.

As things picked up he found himself even getting a Few Fans

And then something unexpected happened. His heart grew three sizes that day...

He even had a most interesting chat with Ks'k at the Start of the Ring Race. Hero

He made an old surly paladin smile and would go on to call him a good friend and march with him into the jaws of shadowy death itself with him.

After his Assassin PRC pursuits started taking off as a fun quick I bought his first pack of cigarettes which was SUPPOSED to be carried with him at all times and meant to be cracked when he got his first PVP Assassination. To be enjoyed in a dark alley somewhere that good, mmmm murder, post-shakes cigarette.

Instead the Pack of CIgarettes was cracked by restoring Honor to the House of Glitt in an amazing Permadeath DM quest spamming dozens of rings to save Lord Bernard.

However even when he was done being an Assassin he wasn't done being mouthy, or getting upset when people insulted his professionalism.
In the classic "Threat to the hired help" moment I made a brash choice.
I felt like I was just about to get murdered properly for running my mouth

But many more adventures were to come.

And the loot?

Well.

Come on guys.

What do you think I'd post?

The goods

[11:23 PM] Howlando: I'll give you a high five + fist bump tip

[1:34 AM] BigOrcMan: RwG, a moment on the lips, forever on the hips

Aethereal

Classic loot there. XD

It was good to see you get your mojo back after Ebersol fell through. The Striders journey looked like it was a great, impactful tour through the Rings; the unique experience of Ringrunning that this iteration of EFU has to offer. Though the Striders were inherently insular, it was also fun to know of their existence and that they were trying to actually live in the Rings, Ring-by-Ring. We did have some interesting if not fun interactions, more the later end after the Velastra Keep situation.

I also remembered the offer... of a contingency of Moonshine. There were a few good heartfelt exchanges actually, but that letter was good one. And it's an offer that might yet be taken up, given the way the story's gone.  :'(

Anywho, good show, RWG and congratulations on being one of the first to achieve a Minor Victory of EFU chapter 5 (Though the elves of Nestirtye, and Mairead and Genovalio are up there somewhere too?) At the very least, the first to take up the Baz'eel ending I believe.

It is through Art, and through Art only, that we can realise our perfection.

Running with the Striders for however a brief time on Geno was some of the most fun I've had on EFU, and if it made any IC sense to do so I would have loved to have continued striding with you guys.  And what a fantastic character arc from Fynn, to land on such a simple but cool group concept born simply from his IC trials and frustrations.  I definitely need to hench for an RwG concept some time.

Was looking forward to seeing that hooded lad with the scimitar amongst the statues of those who reach Ring 1 first  :)

I always liked bumping into Fynn on the few occasions I got to. It was cool seeing you roll with things and shift the character over time based on what happened to him. It's very respectable to bend and evolve like that! We should've made a smoker's club to really pollute our lungs. <3

Drink With Me

Never did I meet Fynn. Though I anticipated an encounter when I played in Velstra.

I to very much understand the making a character out of frustration and then watching them bloom into something else.  A well done character that I admired from a far.

I don't know if there's much more to say about Fynn that hasn't been said IG or in Discord. Glad you got your mojo back buddy.

Here's a pic you missed.

Fynn was not a regular companion on the road to Baz'eel, somehow.  I think he was actually the Strider I saw least often due to misaligned play times, but it was always fun to catch up when we did.  His shenanigans led to a moment that made Eupraxia seem a lot more heartless than I think she really is: a certain palaver in a certain keep.  It was my favorite kind of conflict in that it was very tense in the moment, led to long-term grudges (that still haven't resolved) but everyone got to continue their story and deal with the repercussions of decisions made in a fateful moment.

Also, I respect the change in the character due to interactions with others.  It's always interesting to see how the game and characters can make people veer off course from what they originally intended, and it's especially cool when it's as natural as the formation of the Striders was.

Flynn was an interesting person. So, much the opposite of the ones I've played, but oddly a shared sense of humor to a degree. Prior to the ring race, it seemed fitting that I'd only ever encounter him in ticker and then only again in Ring 64. Such a long journey to meet a man, but so worth it when the interactions happened.
