Stealth animation / effect

I looked for posts about this already and only saw one from 10 years ago. Currently, stealth has no animation or effect outside of a player-side transparency. This means that anyone going around in stealth mode who gets seen by someone will just appear to be casually strolling around like anyone else. This threw me for a bit of a loop in a recent DM event where an enemy was stealthed and creeping up on the group of players. I couldn't figure out why nobody reacted until I realized what was going on. It's also very confusing to see people stealthing around public places and having no idea that they are (unless you have a tool for that, but then you have to poke everyone with it constantly). I don't want to accidentally talk to someone who's trying to hide. >_>

Is there some way to maybe add a small visual effect on their feet or a dim aura around stealthed people? It probably won't affect all that many players overall, but it should be pretty clear that someone is trying to be sneaky.

Is it possible to attach an animation to the Stealth stance?

Like crouching?

On a different server they managed to have PC names turn grey when they stealthed. And that server was not using HAKs.

So maybe we could have the same brought here?

You can use the examine mark and one other tool to reveal whether a person is in detect or stealth mode and I believe it works for anyone, but gives no other information without rogue levels. Still some visual indicator would be nice.

Right, you can use the tool, but when there's a crowd of people it's pretty rough to spam them all just to see if someone's creepin'. I've also noticed that if the value is *too* high, it doesn't show at all. I need to make a bug report about that.

Colorized names could work, but it'd be good to have something you don't need to activate (even though hitting Tab or hovering isn't difficult.) Might be confusing since we have colorized NPC names, though? I'd love to see an animation change to their walk, like NWN2's client-side change, though I was trying to find a solution that'd be a lot less difficult to apply.

This is something we implemented previously and it caused big lag issues. We may investigate something similar, in the future.
