The House of Ebersol

[hide=Background] Hailing from a city unknown to him, Hawthorne Ebersol and his mentor-turned-partner in business Nathaniel Fitzwell awoke in the City of Rings adrift and askew as so many often do. Swiftly returning to old trade in pursuit of reaching the mythical 'Ring of 93', a site of borderline fanatical pilgrimage for Practicioners of the Arcane. Making swift impact his first day of arrival in a robust service to the Adamantine Vault in the siege of a giant's keep - "Accomplished Wizard Hawthorne Ebersol", title bestowed by the Guildmaster took the market by storm. In four days time attempting to re-open the Peerage's trade routes to Ticker, Amassing the sums required for Guild Membership, raising a small retinue, and laying claim to the Apothecarial Tower of Ticker Square.

While little of the "Guild Registry" initiate came to fruition his own apprentices rose to prominence out of his tower. Upon reaching Ring 93rd Ring however matters swiftly shifted. A drama-filled and at times explosive rivalry that had long simmered with the Royal Court Wizard Aethelwine Silver erupted in the small community of wandering wizards of the Rings.  Heated debates in both Ticker Square's Tower and the Anphiliious Society of the Spinning Groat casino bled into the streets amidst claims of kidnapping, Tower detonated with lightning blast, and Ebersol's unceremonious departure from the Merchant's Guild. Challenges of Certamen issued, relinquished, and reinstated.

After a period of quiet peddling in the Peerage's market, nebulous "Consultation" for the various Houses of the Peerage Ward, the machinations at work recently came to light- With a grotesquely large pouch of groats late last evening was the Ex-Guild Member seen entering House Sunpurse. This day raising claim of his Intention for Legitimization for the House of Ebersol.[/hide]

In a fun twist of fate that came up wholly organically from IC actions (Trying to exploit the fact no merchants worked in the Peerage Ward) has lead to a fun and twisting journey of conflict and intrigue.  While attempts to become the Peerage's Go To merchant for fencing goods and similar within Ticker Square it did create a bridge for an unexpected avenue of RP. After a number of winds and turns I left the Merchant's Guild and using those trade-lines established previously as Guildmember will be working to establish House Ebersol as a legitimized Minor House of the Peerage Ward.

At the core of the pursuit is the teaching and responsible spreading of Wizardry through the lens of a clinical and detached view. Two positions at any time in the House will be reserved for "Apprentices", either of which will be cultivated in a personalized plot. Of past Apprentices one sought to learn more of the Rings in exchange for service (Scholarly Appretniceship), the other sought to learn more of Arcane practice (Traditional Apprenticeship).

Akin to the classic Thayan Encalve model on a smaller scale given our playerbase it will be a Wizard with two apprentices who are steeped in rivalry, jockey for position and favor among the Houses, and the ranks of Senior and Junior Apprentice will have very real IC implications on matters. This is not a thing I intend to see wholly wrapped up in matters of PvP and which apprentice can beat the shit out of the other but more a sliding scale of strife and conflict to bolster the House's internal workings.

Beyond this however I hope to present a Minor Noble House filling a niche in the Peerage Ward from the PC end of things. While the formal association Houses have their retainers and loftier goals the retinue of House Ebersol will help with more private agenda as well as trading services to the active Official House Retainers in exchange for favors and services.

A less stressful and more personalized experience I hope to give as legnthy mentoring RP can be given overtime to apprentices, well planned PC Plots can be dispatched among the Retainers, and even individuals looking to play different types of "Servant" PCs can find opportunity.

Apprentices can even be ICly given the tools and teachings required to pursue their own wizardry higher angles or even challenge for the mantle of Royal Court Wizard themselves once established.

QuoteAlignment: Any, though Non-good preferred.

Class:
- Apprentices (Wizard or Sorceror though Wizard preferred, sorcerer remains possible in exceptional cases)

- Retainers: Any Non-Druid. From Clergy to Men-at-Arms to Spies and everything in between.

- Servants: PCs with EFUSS focus who want to find patronage (Fisherman or Tailor of House Ebersol?) or others who want to explore crafting I'd love to ICly teach as my PC is familiar with all forms and OOCly I'm familiar with the systems.

This is a matter that will require PCs be both 1) Non-affiliated presently with any House of the Peerage and 2) Citizens of the Peerage Ward. There are IC ways to change your affiliations if such is desired or unaffiliated PCs looking to change things up I welcome to seek me out.

Otherwise though this is best considered for newer PCs so here's my usual list of possible suggestions:

Apprentices of all manner are welcomed, from any school of Wizardry. Sorcerors who have an interest would be expected to push agendas beyond just sorcery and less tribal/shamanistic/etc as can occur of some perks. That's not to say some big tribal Ojo type couldn't find their way. Just a harder journey that some may wish to take.

Exchequer of House Ebersol - Plying Ebersol's teachings on economancy on a wider scale the Exchequer of the House could easily be a roll filled by a Merchant Lord, Priest of Phanax, or otherwise commerce related endeavor. While many in the Peerage frown on the trade a designated Master of Coin a boon to any House

Men at Arms - All Retinues require protection, so naturally the raising of a House Guard an effort to be pursuied and someone proactive in the role could find fair glory and fortune.

Champion of House Ebersol - The Spinning Groat arena I'm in love with and will fully help anyone seeking to rise to glory so long as the House can drape their banner over the shoulders of the To-be Champion.

House Chaplain - For a non-Commerce related priest the opportunity to mix Nobility and Religion is an age old tradition and plenty of RL roots to draw on as potential options for an enterprising Cleric.

Spymaster - From shady rogues to suave bards The Peerage and beyond are rife with potential threats so someone to play with the gossip, ferment corruption in our favor, and otherwise would be an easily filled role.

Squire - While my PC has no formal title yet efforts are underway for legitimization. A Knighthood among a minor house may not be so prestigious as a more established House but the opportunity is something I'd be glad to help explore.

Maids, Butlers, Cooks, etc - For those seeking less stressful more social RP or a fine cover for more sinister deeds the opportunity remains for those who would like to take up other roles. I'm a huge fan of adjusting RP to fit what people are interested in and I love so many of the EFUSS skills like Tailoring and etc so I'd be glad to give a platform for a cool PC who wanted to pursue it.

House Ebersol:  Groats, Gardens, and Games.

To diversify the portfolio of the House the publicly raised offer of Drayson Sparrowbroth for "Management" of the Spinning Groat arena has been taken up by the House.

As Hawthorne now sits as "Steward of the Arena" for gentlemanly leisure RP there's now added opportunity for PCs to get involved among the House if so inclined surrounding the Spinning Groat Arena.

Individuals looking to help with the Casino vibe RP, raising their own Gladiator card collection as prize fighters, serve as waiters/bartenders for juicy gossip or otherwise are welcomed to seek me out.

As well there WILL be efforts to see PC Organized tournaments and similar hosted at the Groat in the coming days.

- PCs with a passion for gladiator RP or the scripted fights or other PvP matches can find work as Retainer of the House with additional perks and sponsorship in the Arena.

- Non-Combat PCs who want to get involved in organizng bookings of matches, gambling, or other seedier type content under the House's banner.

- Ranger typeswho are interested in hunting or training up unique and special Animal Companions or simply finding cool creatures throughout the Module can see them brought to the Arena for Man vs Beast fights, etc.

- Bards who want to immortalize big fights in artistic expressions, publicize events and goings on, or similar.

With the securing of Royal Court Wizard I wanted to let things ruminate IG a bit before coming out with a directly OOC offer. Since it's been over a week though an aspect I'd really like to focus on fleshing out is the securing of another Apprentice.  Traditionally on EFU this hasn't been the most fun of overtures but with the way things are being developed from the PC end I've put a serious slant on something I've always enjoyed.

There are two options available for an interested PC, of which are very different OOCly:

First is an OOCly inexperienced, newer player. For anyone who has never played a Wizard and is interested in learning the ropes, someone who is newer to the server and wants to get thrown into the deep end of PC faction efforts, or otherwise.

Assistance in learning the mechanics of Wizardry from top to bottom. Be it helping make a mechanically capable PC, tactics for surviving in Pve, PvP, or etc. Each would be pursued through an IC lens as much as possible.
IC Help for individuals in need of some extra hands, learning how to push PC plots, or similar.
Or just learning how to Wizard things up with hands on IC teaching

Secondly the option is for a more veteran PC who is looking for a chance to shine. A great deal of my effort on this PC has been setting up and structuring three unique areas of the server. The groundwork has been more or less laid out.

So to have a Lieutenant who knows the server, who's familiar with leading plot efforts or pursuing agendas, and otherwise would be a huge help in managing affairs. In exchange you could get the following

Authority over IC properties to do with as you please or see fit for your IC or OOC interests
Immediate henchmen in the form of various Retainers/Mercenaries I've brokered with.
IC prestige, status, and recognition for your efforts and successes without the need of DM oversight or assistance.

Since RL a factor and such I don't wish to have more than two apprentices and one I have already, but I'm confident I can make things enjoyable for another PC who is interested.

This is a long term effort and I've got a great deal of long term IG pursuits but having more hands is always helpful so I'd be glad to help create a truly fun Apprentice epxerience. Either to new PCs offer some IC coaching and teaching for PCs who have never wizarded or to more veteran PCs some small-scale micro-DM style interactions where you're given objectives and pursuits but rewarded accordingly.

Interested folks can just hit me up either IG or as RwG on discord.

This is an offer for existing PCs or if someone is interested in making a new character for the pursuit.
