Glint Castling, your own Psychotic Zealot

Glint Castling was my second PC here on City of Rings and he was a complete blast to play through most of his career. Shortly after starting him as a concept with some friends, I took a break from EFU and so did the rest of the group. When I came back a couple months later, I began to expand on his background a lot more. Telling tales of how he could only remember the horrors of where his family came from before being pulled from the 100th's waters.

"All you can see is an endless rift, spilling forth it's foul creatures, it spans the horizon."

"We did not just fight demons... More so, we felled their creations. They wore our colors. They were our friends. They were our dead, made undo. Made theirs."

"These abominations, all the horrors. They haunt me, glimpses coming forth each time my eyes shut."

There were a lot of reasons that Glint was this fanatic, slowly blind to anything remotely gray. The hate he had for demons was not something that could be swayed or reasoned with, as many had tried in the past. Despite all of the friends and connections he had made in Ticker Square, the vote which brought in Ib'javi pushed him away from staying there for any extended period of time.

Yet still, he came to lay friends to rest...

Beginning to reside in the Peerage, he made some new allies and reconnected with old friends. Got called a dweeb... Many, many, many times.

Even got to witness some disturbing things, but they didn't look demonic in nature.

Disturbing and unnatural, sure, but he was just so tired at this point that he was dragging his blade behind him. Doing his best to keep up the good fight against what is really important.  You need to keep things in perspective and focus on public enemy number one:

Glint was walking through Ticker Square one day, feeling a bit better after having saw his brother and sister for the first time in a while. Then he came across this demon, the foulest thing imaginable. A living personification of everything wrong in the world and proving that some things are just irredeemable blights upon the world. The harassment started off slow and light, but Glint didn't give up. Many Tickers were trying to prevent Glint from simply slaying the newly awoken tiefling on sight. So he resorted to attempts at luring the demon out or catching it as the thing went for a new child to consume, but never found him until the day when he broke all of his linger friendships in Ticker Square by attacking him.

Joining House Sunpurse was a spur of the moment decision. The conjurer Dekker attempted to rob Glint on his way back to the Peerage, but was thwarted and chased back to it after having all of his summons dismissed. Chasing him all the way back to the Peerage and into Castle Orza, he was stopped by something purple. The conversation covered why he couldn't harm the retainer anymore and what made Glint think he had the right. Showing his papers, the conversation evolved and began to be about why this zealot had waited until the Question was answered to live in the ward. When he admitted to Ser Errilam Winespill that the only reason he got the papers in the first place was to do work for the Archivists but had found a home here over time- He was dropped to the floor. The knight only heard the first half of the statement and went red with anger, painting some of the street to match the bridge. It was then that the Reeve came to offer Glint retainership so that he would be removed from being gutted in the street.

The first thing you should do when you become a retainer? Challenge another retainer. Like the one who attempted to rob you. You just don't have any potions, but hey, you should be fine because he's just some silly conjurer that you beat earlier anyway and now he cannot flee. It's perfect! That fight was by far the biggest mistake I ever made on the server, but it was a huge learning lesson from my first 1v1, PvP moment in NWN or EFU.

After the loss, he decided to try some wine. A lot of it. For the next several hours, you had a heavily armored warrior sprinting across all five rings he had access to. Every person he saw had the Golden Whip, an object of his desire at the time, and he would be told they did not have it. There were several PCs that he just outright threatened into giving him a whip before getting distracted by something else and chasing it. When he found some of his old friends, decided to just drink and ringrun. What was the worst that could happen? After living through every fight as his allies died, he began to feel like today would be the day. He could do it. Find that whip, like Thornspike did. It was from the most unlikely of sources, but he finally did it...

Some of the sendings made during his night's reign of terror and each sending was made somewhere different along his journey:
QuoteCity Sending by Glint Castling : Excuse me, ring ninety-nine, I am looking for a specific object. It is length of cord, say- [pauses for a moment with a sniffle] -this long. They then fasten it to a handle for one to grip it. Many races use them, but lately it has been the focus of some halflings.
QuoteCity Sending by Glint Castling : They tend to use it to beat or punish another with. While I do not like to be picky, it is usually gold. If you find one, I would pay you for it!
QuoteCity Sending by Glint Castling : It`s definitely not alive! That would be absurd. Those are just snakes. Did you know some snakes have handles? [hic] They rattle, which is weird... Who would want a rattling grip?

Most of the other things that Glint was involved I feel are too relevant to ongoing stories of other PCs so I am going to cut it short there.  Hope you enjoyed him, despite him being a little crazy at times and hard to deal with ICly. Thanks everyone for giving him some things to be annoyed about and enemies to charge at with reckless abandon!

Glint may have fallen, but the Castling name will be carried on.  Vale, brother!
After the battle is over
And the sands have drunken the blood
All what there remains
Is the bitterness of delusion

I was bummed to hear about his death oocly as I'd been planning a reconnect with Stannis and him.   You did a great job playing out his Zealotry.  The mission will not be lost!

A swell character. Look forward to your next one.
