Gyx is dead. Semi-placeholder obit, and I'll add screenshots later.

Gyxtra started out as a rather straightforward concept: a scion sorceress of unknown heritage, powers surged after the rise of the red star, who had to carefully balance magic usage to avoid going full bird/reptile/???.

The background theme was a slow descent into monstrous deformations, talons, feathers, scales. The character's main conflict was being torn between the need to survive and the corrupting influence of magic/power.

BUT OF COURSE, THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED.

To my surprise, due to the increasingly dire circumstances of the end times, nobody really cared whether Gyxtra had some funky hands, or if she acted oddly. I genuinely expected her to be treated like a tiefling at a certain point, and burned at the stake. Instead, both Rhelnar and Melissa wound up fighting -each other- -for- her, in an hilarious brawl.

The character took an unexpected turn after a very interesting conversation before the Machine Ignition, with Raihaikiu.

(Which led to the first public board post, about the nature of the Machine as Uncertainty itself)

And then, with Gentle, translating the book in the Jewel of a Curse.

This is what started Gyxtra's massive lore spree. She was suddenly hit by the idea that perhaps all of this was a Netherese plot to get revenge against the gods and/or rebuild old Netheril, and thus the historical work begun...

From this point onwards, the character's major accomplishment were mostly achieved through forum work. I enjoyed this immensely, and I'm only sorry I didn't start sooner (One month ago? Earlier?) and that she didn't last longer, mainly because I can't play two loreseeker in a row without chucking some serious metagame into it.

I started playing during the Abala period of EFU:R so this was very much a work of original research and guesswork from someone who wasn't present during the earlier chapters. I had a -lot- of fun, and since the powers that be were forewarned I'd have left behind Gyxtra's work for others to publish, you may or may not see the end of that book (and a few other unpublished treatises I wrote but never published, just because they were still relevant for ongoing events).

I'm going to wait for a yes/no from the big H, but as a rule of thumb- would you like to see the books finished, even if the character is dead?

Note that Gyxtra actually wrote her Will, and left behind the (mostly) finished book. So it could technically still happen.

Cheers, and a shout out to:

- Rhelnar/Melissa: For throwing me a concept curveball, and that hilarious hilltop pvp. Gyxtra adored Rhelnar from that moment onward!
- Claire: For actually spurring Gyxtra to find out more. I met Claire on two different characters, and I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of both "kill it with fire", out of control psychopath Chambers- and the incredibly smart, even -caring- Claire.
- Clorinda: Because it's Clorinda. What more can you say?
- Gentle/Westra: The end times lore-seeking SWAT team. Burned short, but oh, so very bright. They had a lot, and I mean a LOT of moving moments that tugged on every possible heartstring, they worked together like clockwork, and both Westra and Gyx had a bullseye on them the moment BT listed them under "Gentle's Women". Damn it BT, you jinx!
- Howland: Lots and lots of encouragement. I probably wouldn't have delved -that- deep, as I was originally very concerned about spoiling server secrets or breaking some unspoken EFU rule. EFU lore and its riddles always fascinated me, and it took me a solid 5 years to even begin wrapping my head around it.
[6:49 PM] HikoSashiri: you are the rude

Gyxtra was a charming, weird, original and intriguing PC that was impossible not to want to RP with. I regret not being able to do so more.

Your passionate investment of time, enthusiasm and quality in this PC truly impressed me, and it represents the best of EfU. I hope to see you finish those books and I hope we get to RP more, I very much look forward to whatever you do next.

On a long, long, long list of things I wish I had done differently; interacting with Gyxtra in a more serious tone than I did!
She was fun, and how her outbursts didn't get her killed is beyond me.

I'm making a list of characters that affected me OOC, Gyxxy is on that list.
