My first Obit, as I'm actually proud of and enjoyed this character. While I may not have gotten a lot done, and none of my goals were accomplished, it was still a fun ride!!

Garen Kane was an ex-Shadow Thief from Waterdeep. A cowards past, filled with stupid decisions and an attitude of self-importance! https://www.efupw.com/forums/index.php?topic=690262.0 I go into a bit of detail in his black book, if interested!

The only true friend Garen ever made was with Allan Tornagan, who became the Captain to what Garen considered was his Dunwarren Blades. Over the span of several weeks, the two made each other rich! He formed a mild friendship with a Half-Orc known as Black Cats, which led to his addiction to Substance. For /fun/, the two drank Substance in front of a paladin and proceeded to black out--

The drugs saw his paranoia increase, to the point where her feared Dingledar was watching every conversation he had with Allan--

He would be inducted into the servitude of the Baron Luminita, under the guise of a Blade, and he set to aiding the Spellguard in secrecy. Doing menial tasks for them such as scouting and Dhimanium hunting, believing himself to be of more importance that he truly was. His attempt to secretly get into the pocket of the Spellguard was foiled by Kylos Ivyrstil, publicly announcing Garen a patriot! Paranoid by the letters sent to him by Marco "Bresley" and the looks other Lowersmen gave him, he left his home in Lower for fear of dying and losing his scheme with the Spellguard.

Somewhere between all of this, Dingledar summoned his father, and in fear of the demon he drank himself into a short coma behind the Grotto--

Substance became his coping mechanism for his fears. He often frequented the sewers and searched for something, and nothing. Many nights were spent brooding--

He schemed against friends and foes alike, however. Though never built his own reputation, he aided several others in building theirs. A true failure of a Wretch, his schemes meant no happiness for him, but made others richer and wiser.
As the darks dragged on and he became increasingly useless, his supply of Substance went unchecked and dried up, leaving him a drooling and ticking addict on the House of Governance floor. Gentle, being the man he was, sought to aid Garen and in doing so found his Secrets--

His actions and thoughts no longer secret to the Order, his pathetic demeanor, all this landed him his name; The Wretch of Underdark.
Sadly, his tale ends shortly after, on the night of First Citizen Dhimani marching against Final Sanctuary. Battling his way to Serena Tower with the rebellion, only to die in fear as they reached the final room... He was on the road of recovery, and slowly worked on becoming a better man. But he never outlived his name. . .

A final screenshot, the last of his. He stands with his Family; The House of Baron Luminita--

May they live on!
A special thanks to all that interacted with Garen Kane. He was my first attempt at a PC that actually purposefully got involved with things! And I hope people enjoyed what little he offered Sanctuary.

Well done! Sad to see him go, I really like PCs that develop, was looking forward to see where he would go after our little encounter.

Random_White_Guy

Really fun to see his transition over time, even though our timezones slaughtered our early intiial interactions it.

That meeting in the crone with everyone was seriously fun early character development for me.
Good luck on next!

Dingledar

I really enjoyed his journal and his angle in general.  Also, one of the few PCs to handle a daemonic kidnapping in just about the best way possible!  What a sweet little flatterer.

Garen's mah top homie.
I'm pouring liquor for his death :(.

He died in a important EfU moment, that's always flattering!
