Magic weapon on bows?

... Is it possible to make Magic Weapon work on Bows? Sternhund suggested that I post this a while back and I never got around to it.

For people who use bows as their main means of attack, it really sucks to have to sit out when facing mobs with enough DR, or only having a limited number of shots to fire because of (incredibly rare) specialized ammunition.

VanillaPudding

As always, VP supports this suggestion. This wouldn't somehow make ranged characters more "safe" or transform them into some manner of artillery, but would allow them to simply participate in fights that include even the most minimal forms of DR (blur) without being nearly useless.

putrid_plum

magic wep on bows or add more mighty +2/3/4 bows perhaps?

Paha

This is still not likely to happen.

You'll need to acquire a +1 AB DM-loot bow (Or, very rare quest/hero drop).

For cool (long-term) range concepts, this is likely to happen at some point !

Make sure to update your personal character notes, and make your concept and goals clear. There is no shame in stating that you want to acquire such piece of loot to make your concept viable :-)  Just make sure you come up with an idea to implement your goal in a fun way.

I don't know how to post in the suggestion forum. I better read the guidelines... =S =S =S

I honestly had no idea that I was supposed to update the personal notes often, eheh. I'm new around here, and the way it had initially been explained to me is that I should just use it for things that are pertinent specifically for DM attention and feedback.

I've amended my character notes somewhat.

... Still, if this is unlikely to happen, I suppose I'll have to adapt somehow else.

I like the current balance with archers. With climbing, ranged weapons are incredibly deadly under the right circumstances!

Moonlighter

... I never asked for loot.

Bringing out the classics. Play freebird!

Sorry, I don't mean to troll. But this has been suggested in one form or another since old school underdark. I may have even made the very first suggestion on this one >_>

I've played many archers and while its annoying not to be able to dish damage to DR, I can assure you if you stick with your character you will find ways around this in the form of improved arrows, items that cast ranged spells or ultimately (if you are successful with your character development and play) a piece of DM loot.

They key is to be flexible. Find ways/items to do what needs to be done.

Moonlighter

... Yes, it's just a pain when I have to burn through all of my supplies on like three Chosen because silver's not plentiful enough.

I am just incredibly frustrated when I am relegated to a healer or worse against creatures with DR, because it becomes incredibly pointless to keep fighting, and in small groups this can cause a wipe or an abandonment of a quest.

I'm not active at the moment, but for what it's worth in the past every time we've inched towards more archer loot I ended up getting quite irritated watching PCs pseudo-exploit AI/situations using ranged combat. I'm sorry but I just don't think NWN handles ranged combat very well.

One_With_Nature

This may not be an ideal suggestion however I think it would give ranged characters a little more utility when facing certain foe.

Something along the lines of a character who takes weapon focus:(ranged weapon - Sling/Bow etc) receives a tool that can be used to create a 1d4 stack of element damage ammo and put something in place where the character needs to collect 10x alchemist fire/10x acid flask etc (Or something similar and would also pay a set sum of gold couple of hundred?) to create a stack of said ammo that was only useable by their class/alignment.

I know it doesn't make much sense that any old Joe could just craft magic ammo so I suppose you could introduce an efuss skill that is taken into account when trying to craft the ammo.
