I love cats

I purpose the following suggestions to improving familiars,


1 Many transitions in the server aren't even useable by familiars. This makes them essentially worthless as scouts/spies which I think kinda sucks.


2 Make it so that summoned familiars have a cool down from being unsummoned. Familiars should be more than just a creature you summon for a single buff, and then remove.


3 Add some skill/save bonuses to a wizard or sorcerer that has their familiar out. Maybe make these bonuses be different. Hell even if its purely IG like Persuade/bluff/intimidate.


4 Introduce unlock-able/more powerful familiars much like animal companions. I could see absurd things like a Lowerdark encounter that gives you an aberrant devourer familiar for example. Or even faction specific familiars like maybe Ooze/drow Familiars for he covenant, Animatronic familiars for the Warders/Spellguard some other kind of aberrant freak for the exile collective?


5 The floating skull familiar is very evil generates a lot of risk and it insanely useful. I feel that the eyeball and imp familiar simply do not measure up in comparison and could use some love in addition they are less useful than even the other familiars. I"d even say the chicken familiar is more useful than the Imp and eyeball familiar.


6 Add a good aligned/celestial familiar for particularly good aligned wizards. Hell maybe a pixie/fairy? Maybe phase one of the familiars out and make it a good aligned familiar instead?


7 Keep the XP penalty, but maybe reduce it somewhat. I feel like a huge reason people hardly ever use their familiars is the XP loss involved.


8 This might be a crazier idea, but scrap many of the animals and make them underdark critters instead. I feel like its a little immersion breaking seeing parots, and seagulls in the underdark.
