Player feedback is vital to the survival and evolution of EFU. We want to ask players: How was your EFU experience last month? Was there anything in particular you enjoyed? Anything that you hated? Anything you want to see? Now is the time to let us know as a community. Please keep things civil and provide positive communication.

[The Dawn's Early Light]

I was in general quite happy with September. I was lucky enough to participate in several DM events and had a sense that plot was happening even when I did not have direct DM attention. The DM events I did not take part in nonetheless still made play more entertaining because they introduced events and plot twists you could discuss and argue about. Most notably the recent Silverlight Mercenaries plotline which I am adoring; it is once again drawing up battle lines. But the bomb event in the Vault, the ooze and undead attack at the stairs, the slaad melees in Starag's and Lower -- they all kept things hopping and hugely improved play for me even if I only directly participated in one of four.

I also liked the faction specific events. Obviously I was only part of one of these, but it gives faction morale a big boost when you know that there is stuff going on. (The growing Covenant split between drow and PCs is a good example; it was created and fed by two DM events, one Ooze and one WaW -- thanks Kinslayer and Tala!)

Play in general was more or less as always. I could make small grumbles about the scripted quests but they would only echo all the other threads ever made about them so I will pass that by. I did have some excellent PvP encounters (note here that I count RP clashes to include these, not only actual fights), again a sign that the factions are moving along. I personally do not believe the factions are 'too friendly', merely that at the moment things are at low heat and that this will prove a happy contrast when faction struggles really start boiling again. The dreaded 'inter-faction' relationships and near friendships make subsequent open hostilities so much more dramatic and gives an actual impression of a civil war rather than just gang warfare between Gang A and Gang B.

I would note that I once or twice had small DM interactions that I loved. At one point I was playing an alt who got mugged by a gang of DM controlled kobolds; managing to talk myself out of being killed with judicious compliments and surrendering most of my gold was good fun! (The preceding fight was fair -- I could have won, I just made a couple bad decisions and had bad luck, so no complaints there!) I feel that these small DM interactions that last like five minutes and give some fun RP are wonderful little morale boosts.

Criticisms -- meh. Right now anything I could bring up would be quibbles.

I loved all the DM events of september. In particulair Tala's "siege inside a book"-event. Only thing is use immortality on your NPCs if things go awry instead of pausepausepausepausepause. But nobodys bothered cos ur new.

Only thing I would like asap is something to reaffirm the looming threat of the Dread Empire. Thats my personal opinion cos I feel they are MIA.

A few thoughts for DMs

- I feel like September was very good for some DM factions. The Ooze vs Collective conflict was very fun to see manifest in a lot of angles and new takes on old classics (The drow taking the foreground instead of the primitives, etc). PC plots seem on the rise as people try to build new things, take new approaches to every day EFU, and similar.

- I know things are limited by DM time, etc but not so much a criticism but a suggestion that some of the bigger plots should be tackled. Mound vs Mur has been a cold war state for a while after the occasional really high spike and then simmering down to very little. Even if it's just more rumor post rumors about the tensions, ambient sendings about troop movements, etc. Or just PCs stumbling upon some corpses on the Low Road or what have you after a battle between some Mur dredges and Beastmen or etc.

- One thing I think should be highlighted more is PC Villain actions. An NPC sneezes and PCs talk about it relentlessly but PC villains do all manner of crazy and vile things and go without notice. A top down effort from the DMs to stoke the coals would go a long way I think.

- PRCs don't feel prestigious in the game world. They're great for RP flavor, some feel that they aren't so useful mechanically, but it feels like individuals who are pursuing PRCs or have them already are fairly obscure. Someone aspiring to be a weapon master is something I feel should be talked about more in warrior circles, the hitman doing business out of the crone raising worried whispers or making local crime figures intrigued, the scholar seeking to become an RDD, etc. The average process of getting a PRC on EFU is - App, meet the criteria (Murder for assassin, etc) or just "Exist" long enough until DMs feel you've earned it, go on a quest, get your reward. I feel there should be some more IC presence and a small time "Rockstar" feel to the PRC.

Be it NPCs seeking out this PC for opportunities to make their PRC shine in quests, rumor posts or shouts about their activities to coax more PCs to seek them out, or etc. Part of prestige is either being feared, reviled, or the talk of the town. And in EFU it's basically seen as "Oh cool you got some unique powers". In this kind of instance PCs follow DM leads and always have on EFU.

- Same with monsterous PCs. It was really cool seeing, for instance, in september Isidore and Smiley making the stage and some traction. But I feel their existence was widely overlooked by PCs because DMs didn't do much. More than just "Slap a bounty to murder them" but I think some monstrous public relations would help shape the PC narrative if DMs did a bit of that.

- Not sure who is in charge of it anymore but the NPC rumors are still widedly outdated, the random clickable ones.

A few thoughts for PCs

- Everyone goes "UGH SO MANY SENDINGS" but when PCs make calls for people to show up to sermons, debates, public discussion, etc most people ignore it and barely anyone shows up . It's not a matter of showboating for IRC but at times it's because there's no other way to actually get your message out. Show up to some events and start arguments, push your PCs philosophy, etc.

If you want less sendings show up to in person events and priests, politicians, merchants, and others won't feel the need to send 5 sendings about their event or plans.

- Don't be afraid to go against the grain. I had a great debate with a new arrival PC about a plan I was doing and she hated it and thought it was insane. It became a big argument in freedom square and actually had the watchers involved. She was outnumbered on every edge of the debate but stood her ground and it resulted in the Watcher having to do some questioning and more watcher style RP than just patrol or crush and it just made EFU feel more alive.

- Please stop over-reacting in PvP. Lately there's been a huge trend on EFU where if PCs win PvP they're stoked and happy but if they lose it, or even if yes they die, the result is how EFU is a cesspool and horrible and unfair and unfun and just a mess. We get you're angry but a part of EFU's allure was it was always possible that if you angered the wrong people there were very real consequences.

As someone who is both victim and committer of PvP it really takes the wind out of my sails to even try to push that kind of conflict if a PvP ends with tells of "YOU MAY AS WELL KILL ME BECAUSE THIS IS FUCKING TERRIBLE" when after beating up a PC and trying to interrogate them and otherwise despite your PC gladly killing another PC two days ago or trying to bring down a monstrous villain or etc. EFU is dangerous and that's half the fun. If you're going to fight sometimes the server fights back. Roll with it and stay IC.

- Don't be afraid to explore EFU. Not everything needs to be a huge quest. Sometimes getting a few people together to explore Lowerdark and see new areas your PC has never been, go on a boat ride for something besides the nautical quests, or etc can be a lot of fun. It can be dangerous but that danger is at times a fun way to bond with other PCs and do scheming besides sitting in an office or tavern. Boats are great for that since you're stuck in a small space. Don't go AFK, start asking about their goals and pursuits.

- Don't be afraid to fight your faction. A lot of hype lately has been going on about how PCs are "Undercutting faction goals" and similar and how it's the end of the world and unfun. To me though that's great. Factions get boring when every Warder is the soulless law bot, every member of the Exile Collective is a zealot, and every Covenant PC is an amorphous anarchist.

For instance a few PCs I have seen doing some things I feel are cool - Halabad fighting the Drow despite being "allies", Herman attempting to bring more knightly feel to the Knights of the New Path, and Maldwyn fighting Sergeant Pond. It helps make new life in a faction and PCs have to pick sides and a lot of other very cool angles and pursuits.

Diversity is GOOD in DM and PC factions alike. When everyone is in lockstep it just becomes RED VS BLUE and all diplomacy goes out the window and it becomes very, very stale or contentiously boring. If every warder just wants to kill every member of the collective it's the same story rehashed but one who tries to learn more about their implants and how they work, or hunts them and harvests them not for "keepign sanctuary safe' but for adopting their powers and tricks to implant prisoners to make it look for PR that more criminals are EC influecned or etc is a great PC goal and change of pace.

EFU is popping. This is the most fun I've had since I joined back in July, so I'd say stay the course: Keep up the player interactions, the PC plots, keep cultivating/defeating PC villains, and I'd ask that the DMs keep with their current frequency of interactions.

I will second the request that the Dread rear their head, though. They're the existential threat that everyone fears but we don't get much interaction with them. I'm not saying we need a full scale invasion or anything of the sort, but something at all would be appreciated. Maybe even something intrigue-y.

I've been very happy with everything I've seen this month. There's been a real renaissance of positive activity lately. The setting feels very much alive with NPCs reacting to players, frequent DM events, and a lot of love for all the factions. In my opinion EfU is running best when it feels like a living world of its own and that's the feeling I've been getting lately. Keep up the great work DM team.

I also agree that some more rumblings in the rumor thread or IG world about the Baron and Magnatz would be fun to see to remind everyone of the tense situation.

There's enough venues for villains and anti-heroes as is.

Things like running for Council could use with more feedback. On Saline I was frequently wondering if I was EIGing enough or not. Occasionally animating a citizen asking dumb questions or a civil servant giving snark for things I might be doing wrong that were totes the talk of the unoccupied HoG bar would've made the process a bit less of a lonely fight with a murky void.

A quest involving copious amounts of Chosen in the Machine would've been nice... Jussayin'...

Something i find to be a growing issue is the lack of DMs, I know you guys have RL to see to, and i know that EFU is low on the priority list. Also i am in no way pointing fingers, but the server just dont feel as alive and flexibel when there is only a few active DMs. I think the problem may be bigger in the EU timezone, but i could be mistaken. I hope i dont sound too negative, since that is not my intentions. Other than that, keep up the good work everyone, both players and DMs.

[One_With_Nature]

It seems to be a pretty good balance at the moment for all kinds of PC's to thrive, lots of player initiative going on. A lot of DM ran events seem to be quite late GMT which means I miss most of them which is the only shame. Nice to see a diverse council at the moment. Seems to be a lot of active monster PCs would be cool to see them being a bit more monstery (if that's a word).

A few things that would be great to see:

- Power play events by the big villains - would be cool to see some Kingsley mischief or maybe like a Mur vs Mound where players can pick sides (if they so choose).
- It would be cool to see some more Ooze activity, given their prominence in the underdark we don't hear much of them
