I suggest making these harvestable. Let me list some of the ways this could be interesting.

They would be very risky to harvest from- their seeds and produce would be powerful assets though, so this evens out, I think.

They could be grown for many purposes:

Deadly poison for food and drink, as well as herbalism/alchemy.

Grown around an area that is being protected in some way. My initial thought is gardens- that seems to be a major complaint- no way to protect them. Likewise they could use to keep people away from hideouts, turf, or whatever. The other side of the coin though is that the one who grows them has to have a way to bypass them or survive their deadly spores.

The only con I can think of is folks growing them on transitions, but naturally there would be rules against this, I'm sure.

This could be something the DMs could do for certain factions/PCs based off IG actions, I think.
