[hide=Background] The work of a soldier a pleasant one until the pay is shit, the hours are long, the job is boring and the glory claimed by superiors. The idea you are raised to believe becomes tarnished by reality. So what happens when a guard turns his head the other way for a bag of copper? What happens when a patrolman pays a visit twice to the same gang to shake their earnings down? What happens when a Dwarf expected to die upon the field of battle for Moradin's glory finds himself caught and forced to choose: To earn a fat purse for a rival Lord of his Clan or have his crimes exposed and revealed for his transgressions, flogged, and imprisoned?
Well. He refused the purse. Dishonored and cast out. Stewing away in prison made him decide that's a choice he won't do again as small compromises inside began to mount and the lust for gold overtook all semblance of "Honor", "Reason", and "Loyalty". A slightly corrupt Footsoldier finds himself wholly criminalized. Upon his release he departed the lands of Clan Khorin and struck out into the world.

In and out of various prisons around the Human nations for the charges of Piracy, theft, smuggling, armed assault, and worst of all - The murder of another Dwarf attempting to slay the Dwarflord who ruined his life he was captured and returned to his Clan for a lifetime of hard labor and imprisonment. An eternal shame upon his family. Being branded a pirate among human lands was one matter but to slay another dwarf? He was stripped of his name and branded Kinslayer, thrown into a pit to mine and toil until his death.

The End of the World changed that though.[/hide][hide= First PCN "Rules" of the PC]The concept fairly straightforward. A Dwarven Soldier (Fighter) turned into a bandit, highwayman, mercenary, and pirate (Ranger).

- Due to his low charisma, Sendings will be limited to arrange work. Mostly floating around the hub or faction bases visiting PCs trying to find work.

- IG Forum presence will be almost none aside from his Journal, his personal ledger and black book of all of his deeds and contracts and more importantly his earnings and expenses

- Word of mouth for contracts, reputation, and ultimately his livelihood is my hope

- Jobs will be half up front and additional expenses, half upon conclusion and additional bonuses

- Scripted quests I intend to charge 50 gold for every PC joining us.

- While I am not explicitly advertising my services as an assassin, if bounty hunting contracts come up or Councilors wanting people dead during the political cycle or etc my PC will likely accept them.

- Similar to my mercenary work on Rehk I intend to use some kind "Marker" to show my PCs favor as an alternative to coin. Rehk used Diamonds and I may replicate that but also may try to find another option. [/hide] Khorin was created with one idea in mind - To help PCs push their plot agendas. PC Plots are one of my favorite things on EFU and even though almost every PC has them they often get overlooked by DM quests. By charging large for DM quests I focused primarily on PC faction, DM Faction PCs, and other agenda-driven plots for fun from the bottom rather than coming from the DMs.

I've done a lot of PCs who pushed crazy agendas and had strong ties to the world so instead I'd make the perfect henchman with only one rule: Diplomacy and schemes don't matter, the contract takes precedent.

Having work for the Councilors on all sides in various criminal and legal capacities, a short stint as a corrupt watcher, and any PC I could find. Khorin started small doing wanderings of the underdark looking for people traveling rather than sendings. Overtime making a name for himself while occasionally taking a job away from the settlement. Assassinations were never part of the PC's explicit career so I never made a big push towards it but with the idea that he'd do anything for coin, and that means anything.

Multi-time clients would get no assurances he would never betray them, but it came down to coin. More than a few kidnapping, mugging, and otherwise jobs were canceled and the "Half upfront" returned to those who hired him when the coin was returned to him. The target of the crime paying coin to keep from harm.

The first goal of Khorin was three status symbols- One of wealth, one of crime, one of any contract. Achieved.

Ring of Final Sanctuary (Wealth, 10,000 gold)
Gem of Calwayn Steel (Crime, 25 mugged travelers)
Any contract (Slaver Token of Sorrowfeast Island)

The second goal of Khorin was medals. 7 achieved Achieved. 5 commendations, copper service badge, silver service badge.

Two from working for the Banite Godfrey
Three from working for the Slaver Imral
Two from working as a Watcher for 3 months via Councilor Dyn

Over 40,000 gold earned and majority of it spent. After a while it got hard to keep track of all of the contracts and funds. I took around 60+ PC plot driven jobs unrelated to quests. [INDENT]The Stewards
The Spellguard
The Covenant
The Exile Collective
The Watchers and Warders
The Mausoleum
The Fount
The Council (all of them haha)
As well a variety of PC factions and unaligned PCs,[/INDENT]
With Howard Godfrey winning out with 16 different jobs.

The overall motif was to create a Mass Effect style Krogan or a KOTOR style Mandalorian in the world of EFU. I think it worked so overall was a fun PC.

Also one of my favorite screenshots I've ever taken. It's in the link above if this doesn't work but this just made me laugh so much. Running around lower had his little mohawk like a shark fin. A+

Khorin was fun to be around and pushed every contract. You be a damned whistleblower!

Thank gods no more IRC pings...
<SkillFocuspwn> no property developers among men only brothers

SemStar

0/10 would not hire again.

Nezgul

Aw, man. Khorin was a lot of fun to be around and interact with. Definitely one of my favorites in my short time here so far!

Certified Retrievals

RIP Dyn's favorite mercenary that she couldn't afford to hire

RagingPurpleGiant

Where was this guy when I was playing a sleazeball PC? I loved Khorin, I wish I could have hired him for more stuff
<elmo>: i have to say for me your glory days have been on EFUR RagingPurpleGiant1

Pentaxius

Axio

Had great fun reading his journal. Can't wait to see what you cook up next.

Bouquet of Roses

I really enjoyed Khorin. On both the characters I interacted with him on.
You always manage to draw me into your concepts, one way or another, and you didn't break that habit on the Kinslayer.

From being asked to pay 50 gold on a positivist, with absolutely no idea why since she just ran into a group and decided to follow, to backroom dealings and contracts to whistleblow other contracts- All of it amazingly good fun ^^

I look forward to your next, even if I won't get to play with it much!

goate

A fine shit-kicking PC Rdubs.

The Old Hack

Amazing. Brilliant mercenary. I loved all my interactions with him, friendly or hostile. Khorin could always be relied on to be greedy, sleazy and hungry for contract work and he was pure RP gold.
