A clerical question

I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with any titles appropriate for a low level clergy of the Azuthan faith? I've looked on the wiki but it doesn't say. Is it customary to make on up or is there a source of information I just haven't found yet?

the law's the law ma'am

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that question not even after Googling however I can say that it doesn't necessarily have to be correct when it concerns the Azuthan faith. You can be creative with it, if you play a Cleric who focusses on Transmuter spells you could name yourself 'First Transmuter', for example. Creativity's rewarded and the most fun if you ask me.

Since there's currently no clergy in Sanctuary of Azuth you could technically be anything. Only you'd probably run into trouble with other characters if you go around naming yourself "Chosen of Azuth" or "High Priest". If you go "Hello, I'm the First Evocator of Azuth" that's just a cool title and most things are likely to just be accepted.

In short, make something up you deem fitting and fun to be called (:

Alright thanks for the speedy answer. I've been thinking about it since yesterday I think I'll go with Spell Keeper, seems like something an Azuthan priestess would be called.

A few excerpts from the 3.0 Faiths & Pantheons book (riddled with my typos) for reference:

[hide=Azuth] "Azuth's clergy includes wizards and monks, though single- and multiclassed clerics hold most positions of power within the ierarchy. These individuals, known collectively as the magistrati, facilitate communications between arcane spellcasters. Magistrati tend to dress in elaborate and impractical dull-colored clothing accented by absurdly high collars, large hats, and stoles bearing arcane symbols.

"Azuthan center sof worship are common in civilized nations, particularly in cities with powerful arcane guilds. There, magistrati enforce the Magebond, and informal agreement taught to nearly all wizards since the era of Azuth's regin as the first Magister. The Magebond stipulates that disputes between wizards should not spill over into the community at large--that magic is best left to hose with the willpower to study and master it, and that the destruction inherent to magical duels casts mages in the worst light imagineable..."

"The most powerful member of the given temple community is known as the "First," and is referred to as the "ervered One" by his or her inferiors. Those who have served the High One for a great deal of time are sometimes called "master," but the clergy frowns upon more ostentatious titles. Many patriarchs live to be well over 150 years old, spawning rumors flasely claiming that high clerics of the inner circle of discovered the secret to immortality.

Two major factions are the Loomwardens of Halruaa, who question the chaotic nature of Mystra/Mystryl and distrust sorcerers... and the Spellsavants of Thay, who urge cooperation between all types of arcane spellcasters.[/hide]

There's not much about specific titles for the rank-and-file in most Faerun publications. A lot of EFU is faking it until you make it, so "Spell Keeper" would certainly be an interesting and appropriate title to pursue!

An amazing source for anything Forgotten Realms deities is the Faiths and Avatars source book, it'll answer almost any of your clerical questions!

You're free! Make it up, and if its too pompous be prepared to defend it IG! :) It's a purely IC choice.

A self-proclaimed "Holy Incantator of the Metaspell" would certainly come to clash sooner with the fickle Mystrylite heathens, compared to a lowly "Cantrip-Keeper of Azuth"

There used to be this cool website called the northern journeys campaign. However it appears to be down these days :(.

High Incantor, Spellkeeper, Evocator, Illusifier, Abjuricator, Conjurator, Enchantor and more would work off the top of my head!
