Make PVP raises against the rules

Raises as the aftermath of PVP is utterly moronic, and have always been. The server has now reached a point where any hostage situation can be countered with "Its cool we can just pass out raises" FD on this server  has reached such absurdity you have to use waste barels, absurd emotes, and screenshots just to make them valid.

I don't agree with this for every situation. Just leave it for the DMs to decide whether someone is permanently dead or not.

PvP raises should only be done by cleric PCs with great cost or by NPCs under DM possession
<SkillFocuspwn> no property developers among men only brothers

you can always talk to a DM about any situation but it's always been this way and likely not to change, it's all situational

I believe this was in response to a situation earlier today which was done in error. Its now been resolved.

The DMs reserve the right to decide if a death is permanent or not. It helps to type /c PvP if you are initiating PvP against someone so DMs can watch, enhance and reward good RP PvP, and to take control of NPCs if the battle leads to an NPC area.

I'll note this down as well because I've been seeing this happen for a while - if you are attacking one person who is part of a group, set the group to hostile - not just the one person.

This is especially important when spells like missile storms/hammer of the gods employed on either side, or if there are AoE buff users present.

Manipulating hostilities to focus/avoid spells or to create a significant delay for other players to respond to your assault because they need to turn you, the aggressor, hostile first before they can use support abilities without you benefiting from it is poor form IMO.

Position remains raise dead is simply immersion breaking, and lame. (Although raise dead spells that are significant acts of the gods that altar alignment/chance of insanity would be quite interesting.)

Vlaid

As long as it has DM oversight I see no issue.

Raises from PVP without a DM should never be done (IMO).

This is my position on the matter as well. Let each PvP death be judged on a case by case basis by the DMs.

I think this is one of those situation when a problem is wrongly identified and therefore the solution's aim is off. If after a pvp a body is recovered, I do not see why a raise should not be possible. That is, imo, part of the pvp and a legit possibility. The problem here is not with the possibility to raise after a pvp, but with players failing to properly roleplay their characters. While it is conceivable that our characters may have less fear of death than us since it is in our setting less 'ultimate' than in our world, it is nevertheless a TERRIBLE, TRAUMATIC, DRASTIC, LIFE-CHANGING, TERRIFYING experience. If truly, during any situation, the reaction is "it's cool we can just pass out raises", the problem is not with raises, but with roleplaying fear of death. So, we can enforce fear of death by making raises not possible after pvp, but it's akin to enforcing fear of one's character by fding anyone not properly showing it. Legit, but uncouth and lacking finesse. We can enforce, or we can educate, and I prefer the second. Now, of course, there would be a constructive and very long debate on how to educate.
