Kinslayer988

What a fun two months it has been. I made Helmsworth with the intent of being a crazy old man who wanted to bring the Covenant into Sanctuary. I am happy to have succeeded and tell a remarkable story from start to finish.

Old Man Helmsworth worked as a bandit in Daggerfall during Zhentarim occupation. In a tragic wagon accident he was crippled and spent most of his life a slave to the Zhent. During the Darkening he escaped and found Sanctuary, only to be ousted during the Workmill rebellion. He peddled drugs in Lower while collecting gossip for the Ascension. When the Cult War ended and Lower was flooded his neighbors said he had died in the waters, only to emerge the next dark covered in green runes and power over the flood. Believing that he was its chosen, he set to bring revenge against his enemies be they Spellguard or Zhent. He would do anything to see it done.

Dermott's story was one of regret. A man who after living a weak life was suddenly granted magic powers that allowed him to act. Because of this empowerment he made many brash decisions. What I will say about Dermott was that he was a proud believer in the Covenants cause, but he was a -bad- Covenant member. He tiptoed around the tenets more than anyone in faction history. He made under the table deals with ex-slavers, he allowed his best friend to be taken by the aberrant so that he could learn from them, and at his very core a coward.

His arc would not be about losing himself to his cause, but about redemption. About seeing his past mistakes and correcting them. This was mostly thanks to his companions Hakambe and Blp who cracked down on Dermott's deals. In the end, Dermott's mistakes cost him the life of Prefect Mub'slp'yss'op, endangered the Covenant, almost started wars, and saw him disgraced. His last weeks would be spent rectifying his mistakes.

I know what you are all here for though. Screenshots!

Early Dermott. His world would begin with meeting Eoghan and Mukwzud

Saving private Blooze

Everything changed when the Wraith joined the Covenant. His worms would be removed but at a cost...

It would lead to a riot, and Dermott becoming Prefect...

Dermott saw himself as a father to the Covenant. So when he saw the Wraith faltering to act for the cause, he saw the mistake corrected with the death of Magron.

Which ultimately led to the Wraith's own death...

He tried to convince the Nyxae Ambassadors to turn on their city

He saw Kalin as a younger Helmsworth, and tried his best to sway him to the Covenant. He had under the table to deals to gain info on the Collective and continue attacking adventurers.

Yor's Dread Attack. In the end however, Dermott would be ousted, leading to the scenario a few weeks after....

The Covenant at full power!

Eoghan. Eoghan was important to Dermott. Dermott considered him as a brother. His plans, his goals, his ambitions, kept Dermott strong in his wretched ways. Even encouraging him to have Mub'slp'yss'op eat others. We held a great goal in mind, the talks of which, cannot be spoken.

When they first met it was in the wilds, some strange happenstance. And their became entwined.

Eoghan would however return a few darks later, holding a mysterious staff of power. Dermott was happy, but not knowing of its dreaded power....

Dermott ignored the warning signs...

And eventually faced them

He got in trouble with the Spellguard often, joining his fellow Prefects in rebellion.

He even got to see Final Sanctuary where he received a grim message.

FREEDOM RAAAID

Stopping a war with coin

The Darks that led to his end....

And his will for redemption

This would be the last time people would see Dermott. A crazy, naked man with a collar on his neck

Lastly, Dermott as he wished all to see him

Special thanks to: Ironside, DTW, SN, Stranger, Aerodynamic, Abala, and RPG. This was a fun ride.

The Old Hack

Noooo! Where shall all my prime irritation come from now! >.< Helmsworth was fantastic. Oscillating back and forth from fascinating and perceptive to utterly annoying zealot, all my characters enjoyed interaction with him. Dracca in particular had mixed feelings for him but at the end of the day admired his devotion to his cause, even if she couldn't quite see what he was trying to do. Splendid, splendid character!

RagingPurpleGiant

He was the perfect dichotomy for Jacob Fudd and having him as the Covenant authority brought out some crazy situations that pushed my character to grow and develop in unexpected ways. Dermott was one of the best things about the Covenant and I'm sad to see him go.

I can't wait to see who you come up with next!
<elmo>: i have to say for me your glory days have been on EFUR RagingPurpleGiant1

Halfbrood

Great character arc, and some awesome screenshots.

Ironside

Golgo13

The schadenfreude is overtaking me. It's a good pain...

Just kidding (or am I?), very well done. Dermott went from being your typical raving old man to a position of power, then back to square one in a believable and engaging way.

The Void That Binds

I think you need those two screenshots too!
Fantastic character, Kin, truly enjoyed our short ride together.

Wench

You made being covered in ooze cool. Be proud.
Feed me my kid cuisine meal, or I will say the F word.

if she's your girl then why does her leitmotif appear in my battle theme bro  :/

CollegeDropout

Great oozeman. Raised a terrible son. Great PC, terrible father.

Dina

Great character, always unafraid to be weird and antagonistic.

Vlaid

Was cool to see this PC grow over time and how he was shaped by events over his lifetime. He led a very organic and detailed life from start to finish, something I am always jealous of, it is a rare delight to see in EFU.

Stranger

Excellent and defining figure within the Covenant.

Worst Father of the Year 2017.
