Ladders

Ladders can only be retrieved from the bottom of the cliff they are used on. Is this intended?

Also, I don't know if this was just a unique situation that can also happen to ropes, but the retrieval spot for my ladder got stuck inside of a wall.

Ladders should (realistically) be retrieved from the top. Because I was able to do this in "The Last of Us".
