My RWG-esque streak continues. Karim lasted a little under a month, and was born out of the desire to see what's Lower been up to? And also hey, the Roachman subrace is kind of funky, let's try that too. I was fairly lucky with the character creation stats, but this luck would bite me in the ass when L8 rolled around.

Karim
CN
Cult of the Ascension
Cursed Barbarian Roachman

BRIEF:
Barely out of his boyhood, Karim was separated from his tribe in the Anarouch desert shortly after making his first kill. He was sent into the desert with a camel, a weapon and some water to raid an opposing tribe as part of their rite of manhood, but the rise of Dendar plunged the Mother Desert into darkness and he quickly lost his way following strange stars. Cold, dehydrated and desperate, Karim happened across an oasis where there should not have been. He drank from the waters and quickly fell into an uneasy sleep- and when he awoke, the oasis was gone. In its place was a strange stone obelisk emblazoned with peculiar symbols. Whether it was the work of the Phaerimm, an asabi trick or some older, more ancient curse, there was no denying its potency. A change came over him, resulting in the bug-like mutations he is afflicted with today- and the changes may not have ended. Karim never saw any members of his tribe again...but he did find Sanctuary, and the promise of a new community in Lower.

Personality tics/weird bug things:
  • -Compelled to stick hands into piles of dirt and walk over loose earth, to remind him of the desert
  • -Tends to ramble on, speak in circles and miss the point in conversation, to the point of irritation
  • -Desperate for some form of companionship/community, violently opposed to isolation.
  • -Easily deceived, due to cultural ignorance of the wider world and mental shortcomings.

The most exciting stuff for this PC is still sensitive spoiler info. That also applies to the plots that were yet to come (and hopefully soon to be revealed.) I've never been great with these threads, but here's some moments from the life of Karim.

My first big thing as Ascension-man. RwG turns a defeat into an opportunity. Really questionable morally speaking but I am not the PC to be asking the questions, just the PC who says yep we do it.

Rolling with the crew

The big reveal, moments after my curse manifested in me chasing around my brothers.

A terrible transformation...

Summing up: Lower is still fun. Cult shenanigans are still fun and I highly recommend people push plots with that if you've got a cool idea worth trying out. Roachmen are fun. You guys should have fun.

Thanks to all of the Lower denizens I ran into/quested/schemed/plotted with- you all contributed to the experience and  I enjoyed playing with you. To everyone else I crossed paths with briefly- maybe I'll see you with the next one.

Aside from well done, just wanted to write that it's a joy seeing players stick with their PCs despite things not always going their way, and try to make the best of it. And of course, well done =]

Random_White_Guy

Our little skirmish while I was fighting the paladin was fun, then the drunken almost-raid of the sewers, then the grand finale!

Well played roacher.

Ahh Blue, well done. Now we know where you mysteriously disappeared too!  Gonna miss Karim, he was one of my favorite goldcloaks.
