Limit XP for Worming Caves

Some players seem to be using the Worming Caves as an easy source of never-ending XP (Not sure what the cap is, but it's at least 6.) Now, while I understand if a PC just aspires to be a Worm Hunter, but I think that is rarely the case. Instead I think it's being used as a method to safely acquire XP until they are a relatively powerful level on the server.

I'd suggest that the worming caves have an XP cap, as I have seen some players farm the caves for hours (Which likely amounts to a couple thousand or more XP). I'd suggest the cap be 1,000 XP, or possibly even lower.

I'm totally bias with this suggestion; as sometimes I'm bored IG and want to make a little XP while feeling like a bad-ass wizard slaughtering worms with a dagger, but it can be annoying when I go down there to find nothing to fight and the same PCs running around hour after hour.

That said- I think if anyone earns a total of more than 5,000 XP via worm meat, their character name should have "Worm Bane" somewhere in it.

Frankly I don't mind it.

As a PC who dies every day the worming allows me to recoup at least a portion of my losses after some slogging around without much risk. It's not glorifying work but it's very easy to explain why any PC would be down there. The CAB has been removed after level 4 where as it used to be much higher and I think worming at the very least has people doing something.

It does feel a little MMO at times but honestly with how brutal the new setting is, I'm fine with something that takes more time but is an easier route to get some limited coin/XP.

I feel there's a difference between regrouping some of your losses and potentially using it as a major portion of the way you level up to 6.

The cap is five. I don't agree that this area is such a big deal, easy XP through level 5 with very little gold gained as something for any player to do/stay logged in and easily find other low level PCs to interact with does not seem so objectionable.

Also, unless you are, say, a cleric with a wage and brewing capability it is a bad idea to power level this way at any rate. Because otherwise you are going to be higher level with absolutely nothing for supplies.

There have always been many wonderful gathering quests in EFU (in my limited experience with EFUM) and while Worming is condensed to a smaller area, I don't see it as being much different. It has a higher payout in EXP, but a much lower payout in terms of gold/supplies than what I've seen previously, and there are other gathering quests to do as well (look around!). I don't think worming for XP is all that bad.

Perhaps a small tweak to limit the amount of worm meat you can turn in on any single reset might help preserve the intent of the area without having people spending hours and hours and hours hunting them as this seems to be the chief complaint.

Some people may need some limiting wall to nudge them out of the Worm Pit and keep them from spending too much time in one session Wormingerering.

It's level 5. Does it really matter?

Knight Of Pentacles

Seeing that most low level quests (at least the solo'able ones) have take limits; this doesn't seem very overwhelming.  And what is the exp gain per worm anyways? Like 3? lol.

Calixto

If someone is able to hunt worms for hours, they desserve the xp as a reward :D
Not that I did it myself, never did more than two tours of the pits.
Most enjoyable characters:

EFU: COR
Tristan Caerfal (NG Human Sharpshooter)

EFU:R
Thomas Valentine (Human NG Fighter/Rogue)
Durga (Half-Orc NE Cleric of Ilneval/Fighter)

EFU:M
Marion Sileyna (Human LN Cleric of Loviatar/Fighter)
Atreia Kelten (Human Paladin of Tyr)
Riku (NG Stargazer Ranger)

Big Orc Man

One issue we've had in the past is that players who have fragmented play times have sometimes found it difficult to get their character to a reasonably survivable level.

The worm tunnels allow those who aren't able to necessarily commit hours at a time to quests to at least earn a few levels.

I think it's a positive.

Yalta

EFU:R is extremely tough at the minute, harder than previous Chapters at this stage.

One repeatable low xp gathering quest like this to avoid multi-death-fatigue, is fine I think.

putrid_plum

You get little gold, no supplies, so if you just do this to L6 you'll likely end up dead in no time because you have no supplies.  I don't see the big deal if that's how you want to spend your time...

---PST is pretty barren atm, and my obsessive compulsive disorders are nicely satisfied by wormmongering!  Wormmonger-a new prestige class, double the meat off every worm!

Plums comment hits the nail on the head.  Once you are 6th, if you didn't die many times to keep re-spamming the lowbie quests for loot and perhaps killed a few too many worms to reach your current level you run out of loot fast.  At this point in the game you are left with 1) dying to re-spam lowbie quests to horde supplies 2) robbing people for loot (which makes players sad) or 3) trying to get on a very skilled and well supplied quest train to attempt to resupply.

While option 3 is the best it doesn't fit well with some concepts. Option 2 makes people think you are an OOC dick for FDing and looting their PC with little RP conflict/build up as that's how murder-muggers roll  (which also doesn't fit with some concepts) leaving only Option 1: Die to spam the quests that give loot to survive past 6th.  BE WARY OF THE LURE OF TOO MUCH WORMING!

P.S. Don't change the Worm Caves/Meat quest as I think it is nice to be able to "worm your way" up to that next level! :)
