This is somewhat off the cuff, but it's quite frustrating to me personally and other DMs when a minority of players exhibit discourteous behavior towards a DM who is attempting to run a small event.

I think it's important for players to realize that it isn't actually all that much fun to be a DM a lot of the time, and that when we try to run an event, it's important to, (1) Demonstrate a little patience while you figure out what the event is for, (2) not just randomly attack a NPC that's talking unless you're sure you're supposed to, (3) If you'd like to do something out of the ordinary, use the DM channel to clearly and concisely communicate what you wish to do (and why)

I understand why this happens, every player sees the world through their perspective and wants to react how their character would (and there seem to be plenty of players who enjoy roleplaying dull, violent, thugs of course)... but for the health of the server, it's really for the best to at least take a moment prior to any kind of rash action and figure out what the event is all about prior to doing something that will only contribute towards our already very high levels of DM burnout.
