High Level Quest Limits

I have been starting to notice that questing options at high levels are becoming limited. Quests that allow the highest levels of adventurers are naturally going to be less common than others, but recently a few of the limited pool that are out there have been shifted down to prevent parties with high-level characters from doing them. Some of these quests, such as Terrifying Cave and Exigent Thought, represent some really terrifying(ha) enemies that under normal circumstances only could be tackled by stronger characters. This leads to issues where the rare high level characters have extremely limited options, forcing them to do the same 1-3 quests every single day with no chance for variety. I would rather see some of these made more difficult or less rewarding, if that is the concern, than to lower the max levels on them.

Well there is atleast 5 high end quests, 6 if you count another.  I think there could be more sure but high end stuff is hard to balance.  I believe Howland said stuff was in the works for this.

Alright, starting fresh here.

Firstly, there are more than 3 "High level" quests. At the very least, there's 7+ 9 max or greater quests that I am aware of at this point in time, many of those are simply difficult or not judged worth the effort, hard to reach, or unknown of, perhaps you could try one of these? If you're unable to do these quests because you are too high level, say, level 10+, Perhaps you should be focusing your efforts elsewhere than spamming the "...same 1-3 quests every single day with no chance for variety.."? Perhaps getting involved in one of the many plots out there (see the latest Rumour forum), or tackling one or two extremely hard but rewarding quests that are not capped at 9? As stated, these quests "... represent some really terrifying enemies that under normal circumstances only could be tackled by stronger characters." As you have yourself stated, under normal circumstances these quests are quite hard and can only be tackled by stronger characters.. Making it harder to fit the purposes of outliers would be making it even harder in normal circumstances for the average pc to accomplish.

That being said, your proposed solution to this problem, that of Making those quests harder or less rewarding, or in the circumstances, lowering the quest level  cap, have several issues or have already been implemented. One, Making those quests harder would only increase how optimized the groups were that were and would "Spam" those quests. If a way could be found, you can count on it happening. Two, /decreasing/ the rewards on those quests, or others like it, would instead only decrease how often the quest is done by those who are not optimized, I.E. those in "normal citcumstances", for example you might wish to look at the quest often refered to as "Seers".

Lastly, I would state this, as has already been noted by several other persons, There is a Randomized High Level quest or content in the works at this point in time to alleviate the pressure that is "forcing" these uncommon quest groups to spam the same 1-3 quests every single day.

I don't think it's really appropriate or necessary to single out a player (even if it is Magister!) RE: quest buffs or nerfs. But I do agree that we are somewhat lacking in high end quest content at the moment, which can lead to "spamming" as the optimal route to success.

Whether or not this is necessarily a bad/wrong/terrible/hitleresque thing is up to debate, but it sure can be boring!

Some new high end quest content would be very much appreciate on all fronts, I think. Howland has said (iirc) that more is coming down the pipe, so fingers crossed!

Sometimes quest levels and party size are changed and forgotten to revert back, often towards allowing more people into it. Don't read too much into it guys. I don't know the specifics for these particular cases but I have not heard of any recent intentions to limit the pool of high level quests.

Keep in mind that at level 10 we especially expect you to be doing more for the gameworld beyond questing.

I don't see this thread going in any meaningful direction so I'll lock it. In the future please refrain from attacking people or making too many negative assumptions.

I don't know, incidentally, why beholders was dropped. It wasn't me but it's very easy to revert. I can say that I think that particular quest would be more appropriate in a random exploreable, but I understand there is an absence of high level content at the moment. I assure you it's being worked on.
