Knight Of Pentacles

[tface=fell]Once upon a time, in a cottage on a hill there lived a hermit by the name of Hegenpodge.  Hegenpodge was an impoverished and meek man who had only meager wealth and so he could spare no coin for the King's taxes.  The King sent his men for the tax yet when Hegenpodge refused the collector's dues they took his larders trove and left Hegenpodge to live the winter hungry. Hegenpodge then cursed aloud,

"Damn ye King! Wish I were ya King! I would levy no taxes and take no poor man's food!"

Hegenpodge's curse was heard so loud that a boggart from beneath his floor rose and answered his wails.

"Kiss me thrice and a King ye shall be, Hegenpodge the Poor - never again pay you any taxes or go want for food! All you must do is kiss me one, two, three times upon these lips!"

Hegenpodge kissed the boggart one, two, three times.  The boggart exclaimed loudly,

"King, King, greatest of Kings!"

And then he did disappear into the ground once more. One day, two days, three days passed before Hegenpodge woke from his bed and a King he was.  Mouthless, black skinned and bug-eyed, gnarled like a dying tree was he.

"What King am I?!" He yelled in horror.  His screams muted by the giggling from beneath the boards,

"King! King! King of the Bogies! Never you pay your taxes nor want for food no more!"

SO HEGENPODGE KING OF THE BOGIES WAS BORN, HE WHO GRANTS THE DARK GIFTS TO THE DESPERATE AND WRETCHED.

YOU WHO ARE DOWN ON YOUR LUCK NEVER KISS THE SYLVAN LEST YOU BE WILLING TO ACCEPT THEIR TREACHERY
