For those of you who have more free time or looking for a distraction, I suggest trying out the new "Neverwinter" MMO.

It won't knock your socks off in terms of immersive RP, but it does have the FR setting and a built in, in game toolset which I hear is quite powerful for creating player content. I have been told that the development team on the game used the Foundry for most of the content they've made.

The one thing I caution is that the cash shop (how they are able to afford to make the game free to play) is a little on the greedy side. So if you don't have willpower for resisting the lure of spending RL money for virtual stuff, might want to skip this one. Though I hear it is not too hard to play the game without using the cash shop at all. I personally have yet to even get the slightest urge to spend RL money on it. I don't think you need to spend anything to use the Foundry either!

I was under the impression that Mindflayer was the "unofficial RP server", but maybe someone finally released an MMO where every server has roleplaying!

Beholder pvp is where it's at

All the servers are being merged into one server eventually anyway.

It's funny, because it's true!

The game is alright - it's the bastard offspring of something between SWTOR and Guild Wars 2 -leaning more heavily towards the SWTOR end of things with content and systems - sadly it lacks GW2's brilliant level scaling or other features.

Customization is bare bones, each class only has one or two kinds of weapons and they all have the same animations, etc (again, lacking GW2's excellent weapon skill system), and you'll spend your first 20 levels wearing the same goddamn pair of pants.

The combat itself is enjoyable however, and it adapts the Forgotten Realms 4.0 property well. If you don't like MMO's this won't change your mind (in fact it may make you hate them more), but if your looking for a free 2 play experience it's up there with LOTRO as one of the better ones.

That being said, don't expect anything even approaching NWN.

it's also just in beta, it's fun if you enjoy MMO and FR

I tried it and simply couldn't motivate myself to play beyond level 5. Yes there was occasional challenge (defeating the behemoth thing before reaching the city) but it was just a single player experience played concurrently in a multiplayer environment.

Its voice acting was a pale imitation of SW:TOR's far more involving quest dialogue and options and I simply lost interest in the useless hack and slash.

The chance to create custom dungeons might still be worth exploring though.

It is through Art, and through Art only, that we can realise our perfection.

I'm enjoying the Foundry, personally, but it lacks some really key features that I would enjoy even more, such as creating treasure chests, booleans and variables.

Just wait until the private servers start rolling out....than we can get somewhere

Elder Scrolls Online...perhaps this may actually make me believe in the MMO concept again..EFU is still the best thing going that I have experienced. Tried NWN Online..nice distraction for about 30 minutes..maybe some potential for EFU type server with the Foundry once the game is done. but holding out for ESO..I am biased tho, I am friends with devs on Skyrimm.

I did not have the stomach to last more than 30 minutes playing that. Memories of WoW came all over me. But as Wild_Card said, should it be open for private servers, I can see EFU using that engine in a very distant future.

The Foundry's way more limited than the original press releases made it sound.

I still love hacking it up to make more interesting modules than the default super linear stuff it's designed for, but it takes quite a bit of extra work.

And unless they change something really substantial in it, it'll never support anything like Persistent Worlds. You can't even go back to a map you've already been on as it works currently.

I've been giving this a shot and Its actually pretty good. I love the combat style particularly how they have done mages. Its a bit daunting to understand everything but I guess that comes with time. If anyone ever wants to quest or something (Still pretty low level 11 I think) PM me or something. I still have no idea what i'm doing.
