Could we give some consideration towards getting rid of the effect for this? I understand the thought process behind it, but I'd much prefer to see it gone for those of us who can cast barkskin and are above level six. This seems to be the only common spell SFX that's still in use on EFU, and it's one of the most revealing ones out there -- it let's someone immediately know OOCly that either you or a friend (and potentially someone that's out of sight) is a druid or a nature-based cleric and that you have access to an extra +1 AC. Plus, for druid forms, it's a clear immersion breaker when someone's like, "LOOK! PANTHER WITH BARK! IT'S A DRUID, GET IT!"

y/n?

EfUA_undercover

Against it... as it is barkskin, you know. I am all for giving back the VFX to lower lvls of it though.

Pandip

Or that, of course. As long the difference between one or the other isn't painfully obvious.

Howlando

I like it this way. Strong barkskin is obvious, normal barkskin (from a potion) is not obvious... every PC on every quest looking like a tree always irritated me.

Ironside

I like the visual as is simply because higher level druids can literally cast BECOME LIKE UNTO TREE.

Vlaid

Yeah I prefer it the way it is.

I guess if you want to be sneaky in wild shapes you could sacrifice some AC and not cast it while you go normal-animal-undercover.

The Old Hack

I love the barkskin effect, I have to admit. Especially that sound of a dull thud when an affected character is hit. It is almost like a razzberry at the person striking. "Nyaaah nyaaah, can't get through me!"

Also, it may just be me, but the way things are now there is something cool about those who do have the bark effect. Nearly a proclamation of 'I am in tune with Mother Nature. Who are you who dare intrude upon Her?'

The above is just sad. :/ If people could at least go, "There is something strange and magickal about that beast. Be wary of it!" that would be preferable. *sigh*

Pigadig

I would've thought the general reaction of most PCs to seeing a panther would be "GODDAMNIT YET ANOTHER BLOODY CAT, QUICK KILL IT" regardless of the bark or not, heh.

Equinox

If your pretending to be a normal cat... Don't cover yourself in magical tree bark and complain people notice something odd about your appearance. Just a thought! Bark skin is good this way, lower level is fine as it doesn't have everyone looking like a tree as howland said. The higher level should be noticeable!

One time my character Snow Granite-Jaw, who had the old Skinner perk, met a shapeshifted druid in cat form. She gleefully attacked the druid, proclaiming that she wanted to skin him and sell his hide. The druid did not appreciate it. >.>

HalflingPower

I like it as it is, it shows that wow this person is a powerful druid- or ate a fat piece of loot.

Firemind

Crap, I'm going to start casting VFX'd barkskins now? At least it'll tell me when I need to replenish the spell on my party then though.
