Outcast

STINKMANE!  Helping a group slaughter a citadel of paladins in order to retrieve a wizard's phylactery so he could ascend to lichdom.

DangerousDan

Sewer Town revolt & the subsequent AGE OF BHAST was pretty awesome

does anyone remember red eleint?
i walked one morning to the fair

sylvyrdragon

Black Pins assult on Old Port to try and save our leader, only to be captured and killed by the Duke.

The Marcail event.  (come on you had to know it.  I *was* Marcail after all.  :P )  Seeing all the faction get together if only for a brief time and work together.  There were Aberdeen, Cameryn, Stargazer, Stewards and of course Watchers there.  (I don't remember any conclave oddly)

Pandip

Every interaction with Khavenko as Claxton ever. Especially the fall. Caerseil's moments discussing life and such things with Herostrat. Critting Caddies' Umberlant in EFU:A for 72 damage in round two and ending that story (before getting horribly subdued seconds later).

I loved the Marcail event with Caerseil and the rest of team nature. And who could possibly forget the charge on H'bala and the end of EFU:A?

Claxton's quest for redemption with AKMatt was really just phenomenal, though. I haven't had a lot of experiences on EFU, but this one took the cake. It was the first DM run quest that was ever geared specifically towards one of my characters, and I very much enjoyed how it helped her story progress forward while simultaneously feeling incredibly special and personal to the character. There was a great sense of personal accomplishment, both IC and for myself OOCly.

I'm sure this comes as no shock to anyone.   Both Marcail events.  Though the first was bittersweet for a lot of reasons.
[20:20] <crump> nature's not outright trying to murder everyone there, it's playing gentle, lures everyone into a false sense of security. then it strikes. chicago's weather is the bdsm of nature systems

Damien

being a warlord of course, minus all the trolling received for surviving

I am an insanely emotional person who puts a little too much of themselves into fiction, be it music, movie or videogame.

My favorite moments of EfU all share a common theme- they rouse emotion, usually a bittersweet melancholy that is hard to bear, but without which there could be no joy.

0) Doing the "Seer" quest for the first time. The music that was chosen once you enter the QA was perfect. Silence... silence and dread.
1) Escaping the Underdark through The Way, when EfU 1 ended. The despair in the air was palpable... everyone huddle together, ascending into an uncertain, grim future, death behind them.
2) The first days of EfU:A - a brave new world, ripe with danger and the unknown.
2.1) Hearing the Arrival at the Docks music in the gates of Nebezzdos. How appropriate.
3) The last days of EfU:A - all huddled together. The final, solemn march, past hundreds of Nightrisers, into the Mist. Beaten and betrayed...
4) The first time I saw EfU:M, wandering through the Mist into an uncertain future.
5) Every moment I spent with the Scholar- curse my folly that led to it being cut short. I am still saddened by that.
6) Exploring the Forgotten Forest
7) Basically every Mist vision.
8 ) Every area where Deionarra's theme is used

EfU is so strange... a place of despair and of impossible odds. The End is coming and there's no hope, yet everyone keeps on going. Everyone is boldly either speeding its arrival or working against. Yet it ever looms, and nothing anyone can do can possibly halt it.

This great calamity, this dark future, looming over Mistlocke, interwoven into most NPCs and areas shadowing everything in its gloom. That hopelessness and despair, these impossible odds, the knowledge of certain death- and the human will to fight anyway, even against such odds - that is what makes for so many inspiring, unforgettable EfU moments.

I wonder, how will it all end?

It almost bothers me how much thought they put into EfU. Every NPC, every prophecy, every text of atmosphere - and every piece of music from the Mort override. They were all placed with such a horrible precision, with such deliberation that it makes me wish all commercial games had that much thought put into them. There's very, very few games as atmospherically rich and dense as EfU at its best. And I've played far too many...

Listening to Elder Otoroo retell the tale of 'How the Tiger Lost His Balls'. Sat in the Starwood among wonderful friends and amazing characters. It was a time that will always remain magical. It felt better than any Loot reward, it felt alive and the starwood felt silent with only Otoroo's words. A hilarious and insightful story. It really defined an entire era of playing EFU for me.

And this - Enter the QA, you sons of bitches. Exploring the Underdark with some wonderful companions, and sadly never returning. Words cannot describe.

Blue41

Heading into the Underdark with the Pissing Crone gang and making contact with the Nancies, before the gangs really settled into Lower proper-like.

Rolling with the crew of the Leviathan's Lament and a trio of Stygians (plus one Sahuagin) on the high seas and battling with a Kraken (or its tentacles, really.)

Of course, the string of events leading up to the release of the Maiden, and the march on the Tower. Made me very glad I had stuck with my stargazer despite some initial misgivings.

Wish I knew to take more screenshots of all of that!

Ebok

The beginning. I have always been able to romanticize the stories told in the underdark better then anything that came after it. The events all come together now, and I was never a huge part of any of those stories, but as witness, they made every minute worth it.

Also both transitions, from Efu to Efua and Efua to Efum have been incredible. I'm glad I got to see them both. Exploring a new world is certainly one of my favorite parts of the server.

putrid_plum

The end of Sanctuary and the release of H'bala are up on top.

I also enjoyed blowing up the Shrine of Ascension with kids and bomber vests, me and Kiaring together bombed some other places like the Hoar Temple in lower.

Good times, good times.

Sternhund

The Way quests. Being among the first to ESCAPE FROM THE UNDERDARK made for a thrill.

SkillFocuspwn

Playing one of the rebels in the end days of Sanctuary, hiding out in an abandoned Pissing Crone with everything in the server out to kill you. Really epitomized the hopelessness and the bitterness, and made me forget I was playing a game at all.
