“Nevertheless, life and death are mysterious states, and we know little of the resources of either.”
― Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Carmilla

When the land of Ymph was bright, and the shadow of the Betrayer's tower cast short, failing darkness over only the smallest of areas, the Starwood stood as a beacon for the Stargazer Tribes. Sacred, unspoiled and the heart of the Old Ways. It was here that the young Sorceress M'kiki was born, a shamaness of the Old Ways that was trained briefly by the Elder Otoro. It would be that the long shadows of H'bala's tower would not be contained, and they spread across the lands of Ymph, casting them to darkness and despair. The Starwood fell, and all that dwelled there were scattered; terrified and fleeing for their lives.

The withering, the darkness has a way of changing people. M'kiki, once a light natured woman, would find that to survive she would do anything. Stumbling across the hidden lore, and terrible magic that would make her a lifestealer; one that must devour souls to sustain their own weak and sickly blood - "It is when this cruel curse intersects and interacts with the innate magical power of the Sorcerer that the wretched Lifestealer is born."

Petrified, and unpetrified - a journey
In the beginning, M'kiki and her constant companion Qal'pem were petrified. The wonderful journey that I had playing her would have been ended prematurely, were it not for her other erstwhile companion M'boto and the generous Elder Pa'andra. In return for the boon of Stone to Flesh, M'kiki and Qal'pem were each tasked to slay;
  • One Giant
  • Two dozen Withered Animals
  • Two dozen Reanimated Stargazers
She was only a Giant and a few Reanimated Stargazers away when her end was found.

Saving missing Hunters

While lingering in the Eyrie, Zkara, Qal'pem, M'boto and M'kiki were deciding on a hunt to follow when a huntress runs by, nervously passing words with Elder Pa'andra - it so happens that a spate of missing Hunters have been atested to a group of mainland slavers. The Stargazers set off to rescue their cousins; eventually leading them to an island full of Yuan-ti and their slaves, they finally rescue the other natives and are rewarded with four rings that hold unusual, snake-like powers.

M'kiki, slayer of Ogres

In her time on Ymph, M'kiki delighted in the slaughter of large groups of Ogres, most often alone. Often deciding that it would be in her best interest, the hunger of her lifedrainer magic overwhelming her, she would slaughter them all and drain them of their blood. As you do.

Hunting 'Betrayer Lovers'

Between them, M'kiki, M'boto and Qal'pem spent many hours wandering the island looking for what they came to lovingly call 'Betrayer Lovers'. Sometimes they were successful. The H'balan faction proved interesting and well played enemies throughout. A thank you to them.

Overall, M'kiki was great fun. She would not have been half the character she was were it not for her long suffering companions Qal'pem (played by Ra-El) and M'boto (Played by GravenKiss) - to both, a big thank you! I'd also like to thank DM's JaydeMoon, for continued support, and WCSherry, for the encouragement and incentives throughout.

The Old Hack

Oh dear! I never saw anything of her except her messages and sometimes catching some of the repercussions of her actions but I wanted to meet her >.<

Ah well! Good work, and have fun with the next one! :)

I love how you guys somehow flew a giant minotaur on some eagles.

We called for a team of several of the biggest, heftiest Eagles that the Eyrie had to offer and got them fly the body up.

Nice change to be on the other side of 'half-dozen gazers glowering at some city-folk' thing. Very intimidating!
