http://www.twitch.tv/escapistmagazine/b/365709339

it is somewhat painful to watch and the presenter is an idiot

skip to like 20 minutes in to see gameplay

ps: this shit is like 6 hrs long

KreShar

All eye candy looks sweet..but the gameplay looks like WoW,..actually, not sure how it is any different from the WoW iterations..definitely not a RPG.. an MMO perhaps..

Maybe I am just old and jaded, and like me some EFU..*shrugs*

KreShar

imagine fighting a hbalan horde with those graphics!

The foundry system looks cool, but it's a Perfect World game. This is going to be an mmo loaded with micro-transactions. I don't like the character models though. It's alright, but it's no Lineage in terms of visual design.

AllMYBudgies

Just another fantasy MMO that is using the Neverwinter Nights franchise as a basis to launch from.

TIEFLINGS REPLACING GNOMES.

WHYYYYY.

It says it is free to play, and the client is free..but it costs 200 bucks to play the beta?  Someone needs to send them a Websters Dictionary definition of free.

some guys youtube videos

it's a completly different product, thats for certain, i just think it's a shame they moved fully away from the mmo in a box concept

Orrrrrr someone needs to look up what that $200 is really for! You're basically buying into some kind of premium purchase for a bunch of little perks (generally small xp bonuses, collector edition items such as out of game mini's or clothing). It's not $200 for the beta, that's just part of that package you're purchasing. If you simply must play the beta before the release, I guess you could say the beta costs $200.

Moving on...

No matter what labels you want to slap on this game (such as WoW clone) it looks good, and looks fun to play. I love that MMO's are finally moving away from hotbar style and more to an actiony style. That was one thing really boring me about MMO's ever since I got over WoW.

Where was the first MMO to use the Neverwinter license to launch from? Make it sound like there are dozens ;)

Dungeons  and Dragons Online wasn't even set in Faerun and that's the only other  MMO I can even think of you might be referring to.

Also if anyone is looking for videos of the game that aren't so badly done to get a decent impression:

Looked at that first video.

Right, so we start with the guy making a PC who is a Silvanus-worshipping Tiefling who is also a Waterdhavian up-and-coming immigrant?? These three seem to all be mutually exclusive.

Then there's the fact that she's dressed like Han Solo.

And I look at the gameplay, and what I see is a fight going chop-chop-chop 200 damage? I'm not sure where a new PC comes from getting that kind of output at low levels, that is, if the game were to be actually based on D&D.

Then, when the boss shows up, this newly-created character is left to fight it on her lonesome while all the professional guards run away.

So yes, this has all the makings of some horribly cheesy WoW clone.

Sorry, what I meant was - Just another fantasy MMO, this time using the Neverwinter Nights franchise as opposed to [insert other fantasy franchise].

-Was gonna right a lengthy reply, but..it just does not warrant the effort.  It looks horrible,..a pitty no company can actually make an MMO worth a damn.

To really understand why you should even care about this MMO....

They have an entire amazingly in-depth looking content creator called "the Foundry". Looks very very cool. That's the main reason I'm excited anyway. The game itself isn't anything ground breaking but the peer to peer content is what has me interested. They have integrated the ability to find the player created content within the game world via boards and taverns so you could in theory create a huge mega quest series authored and written by a team of people working together ala NWN, but different.
