Please, re-implement crafting

One of the things I loved about the UD was the sheer range of plants usable as food, alchemical reagents, poisons and so on. My bard spent a lot of his time running round under invis finding new places to create massive gardens to keep him in alchemical devices. I had him attempting to discover every crafting recipe on the server (even Consecration, using his 1 Cleric of Lurue level), and it became both a business and a major goal, involving most of the characters he worked with.

Crafting was a great system that added goals to a char specialising in it, by having to track down reagent supplies, research recipies, look for old books with information and keep plant fields going.

Up here, I made Ahmed with a major goal of learning all the cooking recipes around, and I have another PC trying to figure Herbalism, but the recipe book he knows of is an old, outdated UD drop.

I've had people ICly ask me about plants and recipes and I've ended up PMing them after I said "Sorry, found nothing yet" explaining "Only the Herbalism got updated, the stuff's not in the module yet"

Evoker's Clubmoss is still around but won't grow anywhere but

, which only one person on the server right now (to my knowledge) can reach, and most of the plants have vanished.

I'd really like to see custom crafting back and I'll even suggest some changes for plant names and skins.

Bluecap Mushroom/Bluecap Spores:
Change to "Wheat", use the Evoker's Clubmoss plant skin.

Zurkhwood/Zurkhwood planks:
Change to Ymphian Pine (pine tree skin) and description "apparently magically enhanced by the Netheril to be fast-growing, this unusual tree reaches a harvestable height in a matter of weeks".

Fire Lichen:
Replace with Chili Peppers and use the "bush" skin, but the same item for the reagent.

Evoker's Clubmoss:
Just let it grow anywhere, really.

The other mushrooms:
Leave 'em, but have them only grow in "caves" areas.

They have? Ah, must've missed them. Just wanted to get the DMs attention on this add a lot to the server IMO.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some new plants IG recently. Try looking around IG some. I am fairly certain the ones I saw were not there before :O

i will tell you for free that there there are only three plants around the island itself that i have found. none of these are clubmoss. except for (spoiler)

Tracker

If you mean the mushroom on the Sloped Road, the Mutated Mycetan, and other odd lone plants, they are quest placeables;. They can't be harvested from.

Be patient.  Crafting is being reimplemented.  In fact, I know for a fact that there are new recipes that did not exist in the UD BEYOND healing bags, and that new plants are on the way.

Crafting was never out, none of us just ever cared to devote several hours to come up with, and implement, new stuff. It is extremely tedious work, however trivial it may be. But at any rate, prestonhunt is right.
