1 - The Trials of the Suffering
2 - Of Self-Reliance
3 - Of Holy Healing
4 - Of Poverty
5 - Of Faith

"And the lamentations of the innocent will clamor up from the corrupted prime; until their hoarse chorus echoes among the halls of Elysium and disturbs the songs of the Seraph …"

This Island is cursed and corrupted, as brothers we must aid each other, and give unto the innocent, and tend to the Lich's sickness that would rot the very soul. Always be ready to challenge and defeat this evil. Never forget those who suffer greater than us, train your soul to hear the endless lament of the undying and ready yourself to relieve their torment. Have faith that in time we will be released from our work.

"And the warriors garbed in the bent metals of fallen foes looked down in horror as their splendid raiments bent and turned to rust; and their bellies twisted and lurched as the poison in the brews rotted their insides… dusty empty bottles all that remained to them."

What is self-reliance? This Crucible of Corruption is but the first of many tests to come. The body and soul must be purified, honed and made ready to pass beyond. To rely upon the crutches of tinkered ore, enchanted device, and alchemist's potion is to ask to be hobbled when they are taken away.

Put aside your arms and armor of steel, to rely upon such is to put faith in the work of another: such tools will inevitably fail you. Choose instead to gird yourself with discipline and faith.

Cast away your pack of clinking elixirs and weighty brews, their fizzing magics will only weaken your body and aid you not when finally they run dry.

"And He looked upon the children below, twisted and bellowing in their suffering, begging for succor… and he wept, and gave unto us the Gift of Healing."

Learn his ancient gift of herb and bandage; Healing is a holy art and it is his blessing that our frail bodies can be mended and readied to face further challenges. From roots and grasses can be made healing herbs, and his gifts of natural healing crystals are not to be refused. Beware only healing when it comes from dark or corrupted magic; use not the bone fetishes of twisted shamans or works of those who prey upon the innocent.

"And with great hope, the Merchant Lord surged for the peace of Elysium ahead… yet he stumbled, for the weight of his vast fortune shackled him in the lands of corruption: and so at last did he truly learn the price of every hoarded coin…"

Seek not material wealth, for it can aid you not. Give freely to those who are in greater need. Modest sums may be preserved to pay for clean lodging and treatments of the Sickness, but otherwise the finery of wealth is a corrupting snare as dangerous as any devil's whispers.

"… and so the Saint went fearlessly into the chamber of pain, and although his body was to be turned to bloody ruin, in his heart he was at peace, for he knew the Father above was ready to receive him into his halls, and the torments of mortality are nothing as compared to His ever-loving grace…"

Know hope and know courage. Ilmater watches over this place, and weeps to think of the suffering here. The powers of evil are dread and terrible; but the corruption and suffering they bring will be washed away by His tears.
