Too much rain

Maybe an alternative would be to reduce the frequency of storms and increase the severity.

Nihm

I like the rain and hope things stay as they are.  (There, I just ensured it would get changed guys)

I'd like storms to be more severe which can potentially flood a area for a hour or two. Allowing for different creatures to inhabit the area during this time and perhaps giving way to secret areas that can only be entered when it floods.

It is a tropical climate after all, so rain in some cases near daily is expected.  What would be better though, IMHO, reflecting some parts of the tropics, is that the rain come in like gangbusters, last a few minutes, then disappear.  A lot of tropical areas this is EXACTLY what it does - and it will be bone dry again in just a little while until the rain slams in again.

As for no rain puddles, this is sort of true.  Soils in tropical areas are habitually poor thanks to the rain, actually.  All of the nutrients are locked in the foliage, shrubbery, and trees, and they also suck up the water FAST after the rains.  That's why when slash and burn agriculture is practiced in these areas to release the nutrients to the soil, things get ugly because the rain no longer has anywhere to go and you get puddles of standing water that are breeding grounds for mosquitos.

And let's not get me started on the temperate climate trees on Ymph, and.....

Oh, um, sorry there.  One serious suggestion though, given the rain and possible puddles of standing water in all the CLEARED areas of the place, I would suggest more bug swarms as wandering encounters.

The rain frequency is, I'm fairly sure, actually some kind of bug with the weather system I fear. It should only be raining like 10% of the time, IIRC. Either way, it annoys me as well, and I typically turn it off as a DM.

The climate of Ymph is closer to sub-tropical, for what it's worth, but we do ask for some leeway due to limitations with tilesets.

There are also some areas with weather pecularities that are more of an IC mystery, though, as well.

The Ziggurat doesn't appear to have very good drainage.

The top should flood and turn the entire Ziggurat into a waterfall, Imo.

I would love to see a lightning effect like in the old Gob Town on top of the Zig, but only if it was scaled down to token levels of damage to avoid frying new PCs.

Why not make it seasonal? I'm not sure how it works in the FR calander, but I'm assuming its winter (being winter in RL in America), so a heavy rain season seems reasonable. Freakish snow storm anyone?

When summer rolls around, droughts would be cool.

Maybe its too much work to keep up with adjusting, but it could add a realism to the setting. Especially since you can expect the server to be around for years to come.

Caddies

Panama I think you need to update yourself on weather lol.

Caddies

I don't think winter in the tropics means drought.

Rain's fine, a little less often would be sweet but in the grand scheme its nothing.

Cruzel

It doesn't rain enough any more.  And in Areas like Harpy island, Orcs, Gnolls, Ilythiiri ruins etc, It pretty much never rains.

It is a serious downer. With certain new balance changes to some druid/cleric spells, it's pretty much impossible to use them unless you ask a DM to start the rain before you use them. If you actually get the chance to use the spell(s) in question, they are amazing. But the problem is, You don't get the chance now, Ever. >.>

You guys know it's not real rain, don't you?

Uh, I do not feel one way or the other about the rain issue, but I would like to see more thunderstorms.

A night or two ago, bolts of lightning was striking all over the Zigguart, even hitting folks! It was fantastic. More of this pls..
